Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss
The cast is new but the scripts remain the same.

Yes its definitely dire. And maybe 'demoted' wasn't the right word. Step down is what I actually meant for Pete.Attyla wrote: Thu Nov 20, 2025 11:56 am Well, since that is not going to happen, and his son is his son, we are where we are at. It is not like the line can magically improve. To improve the line they need to replace a large number of the line.
We really do have to face the reality that going through coaches and GMs like we have has left the cupboard bare as fck

All good toast. Honestly, I don't know what the answer is at this moment but I do know that Pete isn't the answer. If that makes sense. But you bring up a valid point bc as much as I want to say it can't get any worse, the Raiders trading for Shadeur and bringing his dad here would make me disown this team for good.ToastPatterson wrote: Thu Nov 20, 2025 11:50 am I am asking this as a legitimate question not trying to debate your point, which could be valid.
If the Raiders could hire a young coach with potential (eg) a Ben Johnson, a change would be for the better, way better. And honestly there not many of them out there. They would have to take a flier.
But...It's very questionable if that could happen given present ownership and franchise reputation, which stinks. I am not sure what coach Pete's contract looks like and the status of the other fired head coaches that Mark is still paying.
Maybe Spytek and Brady could make this job attractive but given the current state of affairs the most plausible solution to this clusterfuck would be for Carroll to bring in Sarkisian or Kiffin as an assistant head coach with the intent of them being the succession plan once Pete calls it a career. The likelihood of that happening is very minute.
I am not sure taking a big risk on youth would be a mistake considering the current state of the Raiders. I am not sure it could get much worse. Unless:
Coach Prime show coming to Vegas live. What a shit show that would be.
After cleaning house (except for Spytek), I think a young offensive mind and a 1st round QB is the way I would go. As it stands, I would take or trade up for Ty Simpson or Mendoza. Truthfully, I don't want to hear about any other 1st round pick. I don't care how many holes we have. To turn around this franchise, we need a QB immediately. Now if they make a play for a guy like Tanner McKee in a trade (whos young) and go BPA in the 1st, you could talk me into that. I just want the new coach and new young QB tied at the hip.

I agree it appears he has lost his magic and probably should take an advisory role like he was supposed to have in Seattle. I would say the same for the Turnip but he never had the magic to begin with and probably should have sold the team long ago.BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Nov 20, 2025 1:08 pm Yes its definitely dire. While I am not a "cursed" guy I do believe certain people should know their limitations and eating crap food and visiting strip bars was his limit and he vastly exceeded his reach.

I get lost in the face they couldn't build upon the 2021 season. Took the eventual AFC Champ Bengals, on the road, down to the final play and ever since then it's been as awful as 2003-current.
And it's gotten worse from 2022 to present day. I can't wrap my brain around it.

I appreciated AP because he cared, he made changes, he gave his best. He was over his head. Carroll on the other hand seems to be putting together a resume for his boys, that's about it. Then he realized..."oh sh!t we're what 2-8..." He's been watching the Jamarcus Russell Homework DVD. Carroll is just pissing all over his HOF resume, and the Raider logo. At this point, maintain and get us a top 3 pick.
Spytek and whoever he brought in to the Front Office has to stay. He has to hire his coach. He is the final say on personnel. If you want the brightest young hot shot coach, you have to have a franchise QB to even get to first base. And as Ben Johnson's agent said it, we were used to extract more cash from the Bears, he had no thought of joining us.

Did someone post that TE coaches have made successful head coaches?
Patriots passing game coordinator/TE coach Thomas Brown, 39: A one-time Falcons draft pick at running back whose playing days were cut short by injury, Brown moved swiftly into coaching, winning a Super Bowl with the Rams and old high school rival Sean McVay, who has called Brown "one of the greatest competitors I've ever been around." Brown was collateral damage in disasters surrounding the No. 1 overall pick the past two years. In 2023, he was in a back-and-forth play-calling situation with Bryce Young in Carolina, when the Panthers fired Frank Reich after 11 games. With Chicago last year, while Caleb Williams was struggling, Brown was promoted to interim OC (to replace the fired Shane Waldron) and head coach (to replace the fired Matt Eberflus) in an 18-day span. The Bears won their final game under Brown, stunning the Packers at Lambeau Field to end a 10-game losing streak. When he interviewed for the Patriots' OC job later that month, Mike Vrabel was so impressed, he found a spot for Brown on staff. Brown is no stranger to the interview circuit, having spoken with the Dolphins, Texans, Titans and Bears about their head-coaching jobs over the past four Januarys, respectively. With the Patriots rolling, Brown could get a look again.

Can’t say I’m a Lakers fan like I use to be, but is this why they’re doing better? I’d still prefer Mark sell to the Fertitas but this is a close second for me…

I wish Magic Johnson would buy out Mark's stupid ass and hire a whole new team of Execs, GM, advisors, scouts, coaches, etc... get rid of all these CLOWNS and actually have someone that knows WINNING, regardless of the sport.Sloth_Fratelli wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 7:54 am Can’t say I’m a Lakers fan like I use to be, but is this why they’re doing better? The Raiders have become a cash cow for Mark which is good considering that his buyout expenditures for fired coaches might exceed the teams salary cap. I am kidding of course, kind of...

Magic is a moron & the Dodgers just let him be head cheerleader while the smart people make decisions. Mark does the exact oppositeFlyBono24 wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 2:54 pm I wish Magic Johnson would buy out Mark's stupid ass and hire a whole new team of Execs, GM, advisors, scouts, coaches, etc... get rid of all these CLOWNS and actually have someone that knows WINNING, regardless of the sport.

It’s a fine balance between the full revolving door and wasting time with a guy that is clearly not it.raiderjohn wrote: Thu Nov 20, 2025 3:54 pm I appreciated AP because he cared, he made changes, he gave his best. Our issue is year 1 for all these guys has just been so utterly awful it’s hard to find much positive to cling to and feel good about moving forward.
And with us it’s funny because it’s not always the same methodology that leads to this. I mean McDaniels effectively brought back everyone and then went big in the offseason and it flopped. AP tried doing the same thing… and it flopped. Pete more or less cleaned house… and it flopped.
