NFL Trade Deadline
Ok maybe this doesn’t need its own thread but the deadline is 5 weeks away. I know the next couple weeks will determine if we are buyers but let’s say we get to 5-2 do we make a move?
I really wish we still had Jakobi here but it sounds like a few guys might be available…
Brian Thomas Jr
Marvin Harrison Jr
Jerry Jeudy
Thoughts?

Did you see what they gave up to get him? Two firsts and a fourth and the bears get Simmons and a fifth.pfish57 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 8:03 am Simmons is a stud DT with a lot of tread left on the tires...we needed him desperately!
That is a lot of draft capital. I know Simmons is extremely special but wow, that is a ton

But for 2 1sts and a 4th? Holy smokes. bears are definitely all in. The bright side for us... maybe somebody WILL repeat a huge offer for Maxx (not that I want him gone, but for that haul, absolutely).pfish57 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 8:03 am Simmons is a stud DT with a lot of tread left on the tires...we needed him desperately!

Yea that's a lot, but they may very well end up in the SB now.Attyla wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 8:10 am Did you see what they gave up to get him? Two firsts and a fourth and the bears get Simmons and a fifth.

Eventually you have to pay the piper. Miami as well. They just had to bite the bullet and eat a ton of dead money. At the start of the season 8 of their 10 biggest cap hit didn't play for them any more. It was around 80 million if I remember correctly.Attyla wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 7:56 am The Saints are certainly the poster child for cap hell. Yes, it is a thing, and it has limited their ability to be players in free agency over the years with the exception of Carr getting his deal. They have spent the better part of 10 years pushing money around just to get under the cap.
Rams will find a way to resign most of the guys they want to keep and they have a lot of flexibility in how they do it.
As for us? 2012 was absolutely cap hell. We could not sign anyone of significance and we added to that by also not having much of a draft. This was all due to the old man, who knew he was dying, throwing everything against the wall in that one last chasing the ring and Huey' stupid move to get Palmer. We were not just bottom feeders in 2012, we struggled to get enough guys onto the roster. We moved the money around enough to get it right but if you look at the guys we signed it is a who's who of who the f[raiders_icon]ck it that? Losing guys like Michael Bush, who while not flashy was a good complementary back was completely due to the cap issues. We wrote more paper on one year deals than I could count. We were unable to resign Satele and Carlisle who were actually quite effective, particularly as run blockers.

Some of you would have traded our entire 2027 and 2028 slate of draft picks in the hopes of clawing our way to a wild card berth.

can someone go back and look at our draft from 2023,2024,2025,2026 to see how many all pro or pro bowlers we got out those drafts vs if we had traded those picks for all pros or pro bowler typesDanKD wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 8:25 am Some of you would have traded our entire 2027 and 2028 slate of draft picks in the hopes of clawing our way to a wild card berth.
