No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.

Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

They are still indiscriminately pulling you over for such a check with no probable cause other than "people drink and drive all the time".
Checkpoints are no indiscriminate. They set them up and check pretty much everyone who drives down that road. Hell, they even post the locations in some states. And getting pulled over with "no probable cause" is almost always because you were weaving or your tag is expired or some stupid shit. Hell, even cornering but not staying in the closest lane is a traffic violation in some states. I got pulled for not holding my stop at the sign for sufficient time. The traffic cops are going to get you for infractions. My wife got a ticket for 5 miles over the speed limit in a 45. Nitpick stuff but yea, that is how they get you. And the subjective stuff? Sure that happens, but it is still on camera so you can even fight it if you want. And sometimes you win. And if you live in an area where they don't yet have body cameras? I guess that is just the luck of the draw. Most larger cities have them and even smaller cities these days. Hell, you have a camera on your phone, break it out and film your stop. That is allowed by law as well. Truth is, can they get around the "legal" stuff? Sure, but stats show it happens less often than people accuse them of.

But if you are unlucky enough to have to test, don't test over the limit and you win. We got body cams required here and you can gain access to the film really easy so you can get your proof that you did not slur your speech, you are just mainly illiterate. But I come from a cop family on my wife's side, so I heard all the stories about the truth vs the perception. My father in law was a bastard, but he was an honest bastard. My brother in law, much the same. Uncles, all good guys who just did the job. Maybe I am a bit biased as a result of the stories, but the honest guys outnumber the dishonest guys by all accounts I was told about. We just like the corrupt guys getting busted stories more than the boring good guy stuff.

In other news, saw a clip of AZ practice (not sure when it was filmed but Brissett was throwing so I think it is very recent) and Marvin Harrison Jr was dropping everything thrown to him.

It seems to me that swerving into another lane and hitting a car is probable cause. He was driving erratically. I'm not sure he could have been assessed as he was bleeding from the gash on his face, had multiple bone breaks that surely had to be quite painful and he was suffering from a severe concussion. How are you going to assess this person roadside. He isn't going to be walking a line or reciting an alphabet backwards or counting backwards by 7 or any of the other roadside things they do. When the local cops (probably fans) realized who they were dealing with, I doubt the first thing on their minds was "let's get his blood alcohol." The first order of business wasn't trying to find out if he was under the influence--it was to assess his wounds and figure out if he had life threatening injuries.

Personally I don't buy the "clerical error" excuse. There's a high profile person in an accident and the cops didn't dot the i's and cross the t's. Riiiiiight. If you missed what the "error" was, they assigned blame to the 21 year old woman in the other car. Just a small clerical error.

Swerving into another car alone would not be probable cause or every accident would be investigated as a DUI

Shanny was concussed and likely a bit dazed. That’s more than enough for an LEO to have him checked for drugs or alcohol.

In some counties any injury including to the one impaired instantly turns a DUI into a felony

The two states I lived in call it reckless operation and 2 full points, far from no fault.

Dont take field sobriety tests, even if you had nothing to drink. You are within your rights to refuse them without consequences.

Depends on which state you're in.

"Your refusal can—and likely will—be used against you in court. The government may argue that you refused the test because you didn’t want the test to confirm that you were drunk or under the influence of drugs. Additionally, the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) may suspend your license for one year for refusing to take a sobriety test."

But you will be required to take a chemical test after your arrest. If you refuse that, you will lose driving privileges for a year. (At least here in Ca)

It's a guilty plea here. Your right to refuse it but you are going to jail

Steve Smith speaks just fine and is a good analyst when he’s not stoned. More than 75 percent of the time while on the air he’s high as hell and sucks at his job. I’m shocked they don’t do something about it.

lol. Thanks for the catch. Makes it even shadier.

Regarding DUI, if he was, there is the chance given his connections that was another "error". A couple other items seem fishy to me as well as he was supposedly on his phone and he cut himself from the remote on his visor??? Sure, that could be but let's assume something first, let's assume Kyle is not stoooopid. Is he driving a 2010 Camry?!! LOL!

He's driving the latest and greatest car/SUV and he is no doubt whatsoever totally locked into technology and doesn't need that phone in his hand as the car handles everything. I'm 30 years older than Kyle and I don't use my phone in my car as it's connected to the latest and greatest computer and big screen. And this multi millionaire still has a push button garage door opener?! LOL again!

So does he have that so somebody can break his window, grab the thing and then access his house? I just don't see him having that. I certainly see him having it integrated into his car controls and/or his phone and the garage door opener itself the most technology advanced with rolling codes, alerts and possibly integrated cameras.

There's so many questions. I don't know what kind of car he was driving but on the fancy new cars they have these gadgets that you put your phone in so you can talk hands free so you won't drop your phone and try to retrieve it if you feel you must phone and drive. One article speaks to Chris Simms (college friend of Shanahan) receiving photos after the accident from Shanahan's wife. It was gruesome, Chris saying he almost lost his right eye. And why didn't Chris break the news... well, they are close friends and Chris is not a journalist, not a reporter, he's a TV "personality" so he chose not to publicly say anything but, he was amazed it took 11 days. Every day after the accident he expected news about his friend and none came until day 11. As the kids say, it's all very suss.
