NFL Trade Deadline
Ok maybe this doesn’t need its own thread but the deadline is 5 weeks away. I know the next couple weeks will determine if we are buyers but let’s say we get to 5-2 do we make a move?
I really wish we still had Jakobi here but it sounds like a few guys might be available…
Brian Thomas Jr
Marvin Harrison Jr
Jerry Jeudy
Thoughts?

^^^^I was only suggesting the Ram players because there is no way the Rams are resigning all of them. They have cap space but a significant portion of their roster are free agents. Many are still young, are studs, and play positions of need. I really did not look at the entire FA list because you are right (it will change when the time comes). I will guarantee that at least 2 of those Ram studs will be on a different team next season (why not ours).

I have been hearing this about the Rams for at least 5 years. They are all in this year and will be f[raiders_icon]cked for years. It still hadnt happened. Hell they added Myles Garrett after being supposedly in cap hell.RI RAIDER wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 6:58 am ^^^^I was only suggesting the Ram players because there is no way the Rams are resigning all of them. no such thing as cap hell...teams with creative gm's find a way to get thru it and still sign free agents...especially teams with rookie qbsFLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 7:04 am I have been hearing this about the Rams for at least 5 years. I never said they were in cap hell per say (in fact they have a lot of cap space). I said a big % of their roster are FA's. They are not going to be able to resign everyone and some of those studs will be on different teams next season. Just look it up for yourself.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 7:04 am I have been hearing this about the Rams for at least 5 years. good info thanks16 to 88 wrote: Wed Oct 28, 2026 3:53 pm Not entirely true regarding draft picks being a 50/50 proposition when it comes to drafting them.
If we base it on players drafted in rounds 1-3 who successfully become primary or quality starters and evaluate them by calculating whether a drafted prospect meets the standard as a starter during their rookie contract applying metrics such as…
Starting a majority of available games (typically 48 career starts over 4 seasons).
Sustaining a high percentage of total team snaps (usually 50% or higher).
Achieving performance metrics indicative of a quality starter rather than just hanging around on an active NFL roster.
Here are the approximate hit rates when it comes to the rounds 1-3. Obviously, they diminish as day 3 picks roll around…
Round 1
QB 35-46%
WR 64%
TE 73%
RB 60-67%
OT 73%
IOL 70-83%
DL/Edge 66%
LB 56%
DB 61%
Round 2
QB 10-12.8%
WR 40%
TE 25%
RB 32-40%
OT 33%
IOL 48-70%
DL/Edge 35%
LB 38%
DB 40%
Round 3
QB 2-7.5%
WR 22%
TE 12%
RB 20%
OT14%
IOL 51%
DL/Edge 18%
LB 20%
DB 20%
this is exactly why the rams trade off their picks for proven pro bowl type of players...you get proven high performance type players with experience vs unproven prospects that are at best 50/50 to be busts, avg, good, great

I wasn't calling you out. Just the general consensus that they sold their soul for a SB run and it hssnt happened. Looks like they won't have any trouble signing their big FAs by pushing the hits back a bit.RI RAIDER wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 7:22 am I never said they were in cap hell per say (in fact they have a lot of cap space). Bears acquired Tenn DT Simmons. The Raiders could’ve really used that guy.

Wow. Huge move. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger game changer on the defensive side of the ball than Simmons.STHfrontrow wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 7:35 am Bears acquired Tenn DT Simmons. The Raiders could’ve really used that guy.

The Saints are certainly the poster child for cap hell. Yes, it is a thing, and it has limited their ability to be players in free agency over the years with the exception of Carr getting his deal. They have spent the better part of 10 years pushing money around just to get under the cap.
Rams will find a way to resign most of the guys they want to keep and they have a lot of flexibility in how they do it.
As for us? 2012 was absolutely cap hell. We could not sign anyone of significance and we added to that by also not having much of a draft. This was all due to the old man, who knew he was dying, throwing everything against the wall in that one last chasing the ring and Huey' stupid move to get Palmer. We were not just bottom feeders in 20112, we struggled to get enough guys onto the roster. We moved the money around enough to get it right but if you look at the guys we signed it is a who's who of who the f[raiders_icon]ck it that? Losing guys like Michael Bush, who while not flashy was a good complementary back was completely due to the cap issues. We wrote more paper on one year deals than I could count. We were unable to resign Satele and Carlisle who were actually quite effective, particularly as run blockers.
