A bidding war certainly helps. There's still no advantage to be gained by indicating you're ready to move on from the player. Teams will call. If you're willing to retain the player, then you're one of the "bidders". If we are smart and mature in addressing the offseason, we don't have to have lost any leverage with respect to a trade.

Crosby is good enough that im not sure it matters that much. The Parsons situation dragged on and on with tons of drama and dallas still got solid value. As long as you have multiple contenders in the bidding you are ok.chucker wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 11:17 am A bidding war certainly helps. You would be correct, I was speaking more metaphorically, you pretty much do what theh Raiders are doing right now -- leak to the press that you may be interested in trading him so that calls come in and wait til you get the right offer.chucker wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 10:19 am Never ever pick up the phone to let teams know a player is available. If the player is a valuable potential trade piece, wait for someone to call you and show reluctance to trade him.
One of the few trades the Raiders ever made that was smart was the Amari Cooper trade for a first rounder. First leaks came that we may look to deal him, then finally the Cowboys got desperate and gave us the first rounder we wanted.
And speaking of Cowboys, they're looking for a new identity, and they have two first round picks this year, they could be a match. An interesting idea I've been thinking of is Detroit, Maxx can go back to Michigan, he grew up a die hard Lions fan, would love to get their first rounder and pry Jamison Williams to be Mendozas WR1.

One of the limiting factors in trading a high value player is in finding a team with high value assets to give you, who also has cap space to take on a contract (although his contract is quite tradeable). Teams wanting him isn't an issue, they would still want to give up a little as possible to get him.

This I agree with. I am curious though, so I went back and looked at trades for defensive stars and here is what I foundchucker wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 11:17 am A bidding war certainly helps. Mack, the Raiders got a haul for him they mostly squandered. The Raiders traded him because Gruden was not interested in his services.
Revis, the Jets traded him because he was a disgruntled employee and had sustained a major injury. In truth, he was never the same player after that. Jets used the primary pick for Richardson, which was not a bad thing. They squandered his time with the Jets
Seymour, the Pats traded a guy in his last year of his contract to the Raiders. Seymour was making it difficult for Belichick to resign and in true Belichick form, he just cut bait on the player. Pats used the primary pick for Solder who anchored their line for more than a bit. Raiders squandered Seymour
Jared Allen, the Chiefs traded him to the Vikes because he was in on the franchise tag and was not interested in making a deal after being tagged. Chiefs used the picks to get Jamaal Charles and Brandon Albert. Vikes got some milage from the Allen but ultimately it did not pan out.
John Abraham, he was traded from the Jets to the Falcons because he was a tagged player that did not want to negotiate with the Jets. The Broncos were in this three way trade. Jets got Mangold with their pick, Broncos got Cutler and we endured repeated posts about Cutler from Ivan. Ultimately while Abraham had success as a Falcon, none of the teams really saw much from the trade. Jets were the Jets, Cutler was Carr without the eyeliner and the Falcons were competitive but ultimately it did not push them over the edge.
In most cases, the players either were in contract years, or in the case of Mack, just mismanagement. Revis was coming off a major injury. Seymour, Allen and Abraham were contract issues. We have a guy under contract, and he might be miffed but he has not begun talking about wanting out. Injury is not major or career altering. If we keep him and he returns with guns blazing, we are good. If we trade him, we would need to be smart with the picks.

Jets also traded Jamal Adams to our own Pete Carroll and used those draft picks for Alijah Vera-Tucker and Garrett Wilson.Attyla wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 11:43 am This I agree with. I am curious though, so I went back and looked at trades for defensive stars and here is what I found

Ultimately I think Crosby has played his last down as a Raider. Theres going to be some teams who just miss out on the superbowl and think a player like Crosby can put them over the top. I dont see two firsts but a 1st and 2nd or around there. I dont think crosbys reaction and video will move the needle as far as league discipline but I think Spytek and Brady may be very unpleased

This is the key. IMO if you've already decided he has to be traded, you might lose out one way or another.Attyla wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 11:43 am If we keep him and he returns with guns blazing, we are good. If we trade him, we would need to be smart with the picks.

I'm in such denial of Maxx being traded that I'm not trusting any of this media shit. The same BS they've been trying for years.
Sensationalism to get clicks, agents and other teams putting out buzz hoping that it manifests the outcome they want.
Maxx should be a Raider for life. I'll be pissed if he gets traded, but then again what can you do?

I did a draft sceneo with us trading Crosby to the cowboys for the 2 1st round picks this year.
Ended up with Caleb Downs and Cashius Howell, and then took Kayden McDonald with the 33rd pick.

"If we trade him, we would need to be smart with the picks."
And that is the rub right there.
We suck at the draft..... and smart decisions.
And that is the rub right there.

What site allows one to make trade for players?
Is it a free site or one you pay for?
thanks

I think Crosby still has a lot of value to the Raiders over the next few seasons. They need to have some sort of foundation for the drafted QB to have some success. The way the draft has worked out for this organization, there's a high probability they get nothing out of the picks in return for him so I just think they are better off keeping him and maybe for the first time in forever, just start hiring the right coaches and making good roster decisions for once.
