The fact that people are talking about Manning as a No.1 pick astounds me when we’ve seen nothing from him so far that say he will be that guy he still has a shot to show it but up until now all i’ve seen is a famous namechucker wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2026 7:02 am It's possible that a year from now neither Arch nor Dante look like top QB prospects - it happens a lot that the top prospects heading into the college season have a rough year and don't develop as hoped. Mendoza is absolutely the pick and should be the pick. Don't overthink it.
We just have to not Raider it up like we have in the past & take Mendoza even this franchise cant mess it up

Fun fact: Right after the 2011 draft, someone (might have been SI) posted a 2012 mock draft listing Tyler Wilson as the #1 overall pick.chucker wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2026 7:02 am It's possible that a year from now neither Arch nor Dante look like top QB prospects - it happens a lot that the top prospects heading into the college season have a rough year and don't develop as hoped.
A year later, we drafted him in the fourth round and cut him before the end of preseason because (supposedly) he couldn't memorize the playbook.
As you ably pointed out, there's no reason to assume someone highly touted now will remain that way as his college career progresses.

Trading out of the 1st pick would be entirely based on not liking Mendoza imo. You’d never punt on a QB you liked… because their might be one next year you like more. As a thought experiment it’s fun… in reality, you’d be crazy to pass on Mendoza unless you felt like he’d be a wasted pick.CWood24 wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2026 9:13 am The fact that people are talking about Manning as a No.1 pick astounds me when we’ve seen nothing from him so far that say he will be that guy he still has a shot to show it but up until now all i’ve seen is a famous name

Gruden would have 100% traded the pick and then went with some other qb he wanted to try and outsmart the world with.raiders93 wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2026 4:16 pm Trading out of the 1st pick would be entirely based on not liking Mendoza imo. I remember when we took Todd Marinovich. At first I thought we had found our Messiah....ugh.

Every word out of his mouth is more stupid than the last. You would think it would stop at some point but....no. But he makes really cool faces. I cant believe how many want him back

Gruden would’ve stuck and picked a QB at 1… just not Mendoza. Grudens picks wouldnt have been as bad had he traded down instead of over drafting guys by 20+ spotsDanKD wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2026 4:18 pm Gruden would have 100% traded the pick and then went with some other qb he wanted to try and outsmart the world with.

Welcome to the 2026 NFL Draft, and with that the Raiders are on the clock. Gruden calls up Drew Allar, "how would you like to be a Las Vegas Raider?" As he smirks like he just cured cancer.raiders93 wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2026 7:59 pm Gruden would’ve stuck and picked a QB at 1… just not Mendoza. And Drew, you know what we expect of you? Leadership. They could for all five.raiders93 wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2026 7:41 am Even beyond the issue of whether these guys develop, you can’t guarantee you’d be able to get one even with a bunch of 1sts in the bank.
I’m sure the jets are running into that reality right now with us and Mendoza. Congratulations - you have the 2nd overall, 16th overall and 3 1sts next year…. Still can’t move up 1 spot and get the QB.
