It's a fun theory. I don't think it's what happened, but I can't deny that a similar idea entered my mind. If Maxx comes back and plays for us in 2026, he will have accomplished exactly what he wanted. We spent the vast majority of our cap to rebuild the defense around him. If I were him, I'd want to stay.raidersince63 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 10:27 am Guys, again, it was only just a sudden thought that popped into my head...but seriously though, none of us really knows everything about what went on with Maxx and Baltimore.
Also, depending on how the season goes, a team who maybe loses their edge rusher to injury but still in playoff contention may get desperate and send two high picks to Raiders at the trade deadline for Maxx. It also depends on how Raider are doing, I'm not trading him if we're competing for a playoff spot.Rabidraider wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 10:58 am Just get a nice guard in free agency to wash away pick 14. Keep Maxx for 2026, and then trade him for at least a 1st for the 2027 draft.
It breaks us basically even on the draft stuff and we get Maxx for an additional year.
Russini might be spot on.
Yeah, I doubt it happened either...and another random but funny thought just entered my mind.NoThanksSir wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 11:03 am It's a fun theory. Haha, that would be awesome.raidersince63 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 11:09 am Yeah, I doubt it happened either...and another random but funny thought just entered my mind.
I'd love to wake up tomorrow and find out that Hendrickson failed his physical too.
I get what you guys are thinking, but really, it is hard to fake it in a physical. It would be mostly scans since his repair job is too new to really be messing with too much. It would be more about looking at the damage before and after surgery since those pictures are easy to get, especially with it all being in house. For a point of reference, it is merely a knowledge of who took the scans and having them being electronically transmitted. And HIPAA would not apply. This is all covered in the CBA, you request they send. Then fresh pictures in house in Baltimore. All the facilities have scanners on hand, so you get a current look at the progress of the healing.NoThanksSir wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 11:03 am It's a fun theory. Same owner who didn't want the Raiders to have a new stadium in LA?DanKD wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 11:15 am GMs and ownership can override the physicals. Brett Favre failed his physical when traded to GB but the GM passed it through anyway.
From what I've been hearing and reading, I believe you are absolutely right.
More and more as time goes by, I think the Ravens simply and suddenly developed a terminal case of "buyer's remorse".Attyla wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 11:20 am In case you miss it in the other thread, from Maxx's doctor: “Maxx Crosby is doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program … he feels very well and is already much improved compared to before surgery.
“We truly respect the work of the Ravens staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process. This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear.
“At this point, Maxx is doing an excellent job attacking his rehab and his knee is responding very well. We look forward to Maxx returning to his elite level of performance this season as planned and for several more to come.”
