No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.
Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

Actually, that could not be further from the truth. The Patriots already knew they had the QB. Once they knew this, they had the best off season of ANY team in the league last year. We currently do not know what we have. I hope next year, we will be in the same situation as the Pats were going into this past year. If we know Fernando is real, we will still be in great shape with the cap and can fill our holes. Until then, everything is a big question mark.mstrbass2000 wrote: Fri Jun 19, 2026 7:57 am last time i looked the pats made it to the super bowl and diggs caught 85 outta 102 targets from drake maye using him as a route runner/chain mover type wr on a run heavy offense...sure the pats moved on and upgraded at the wr position with younger player but diggs played very well in that system
plus look at the patsies team last yr, similar to the raiders this yr and they took a chance on diggs and it worked out well

I'd pass on Carter. My reasons are based on injury concerns, contract demands, and his questionable character.Rick In Bakersfield wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 8:00 am I don't know what it would take to get Jalen Carter - and I don't know if this has been talked about on the forum.
Would you rather give up a first round pick or maybe a player-for-player like Maxx straight up?
Or would you guys just rather pass on this deal altogether?
The current management has thus far granted my wishes by only acquiring "talented AND intelligent" players so IMO, taking on Carter would be a step in the wrong direction.

So why can't Sorsby just sign with a team as an undrafted free agent?
I'm sure there's a reason, just don't know what it is.

Collective bargaining agreement, any player that plays college ball has to enter the draft and you can't be a UDFA if you never entered the draft. Sorsby is going to have to sit out a year or maybe he plays in some other league and enters next years draft.raider_kin wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 6:57 pm So why can't Sorsby just sign with a team as an undrafted free agent?

Terrion Arnold - 24th pick in the 2024 draft. Second CB off the board. The Raiders had the 13th pick and took Bowers.

You have to go through the draft. Otherwise top players could bypass the draft to avoid bad teams and go where they want.raider_kin wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 6:57 pm So why can't Sorsby just sign with a team as an undrafted free agent?

I really don’t know what these kids are thinking anymore. Multi million dollar contracts, your whole life set up for you if you just act like a normal human being and you choose to run with people who are not good for you. Who is advising these kids? SMH.
I was no angel and I am not a rocket scientist but it only takes common sense and a sense of right and wrong to get by in this world without major issues.

Some solid parenting helps avoid some pitfalls.Grumpy13 wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 6:53 am I was no angel and I am not a rocket scientist but it only takes common sense and a sense of right and wrong to get by in this world without major issues.

Yup, it almost always comes down to their upbringing.

Unfortunately, that is our country's biggest problem. Its not and end all be all (I know some of the best parents in the world whose kids have gone sideways). However, it would solve many of the problems the country is facing.

It's not just the US, it's all over the world, this generation is born into entitlement, they don't have to work for anything as everything is given to them and done for them.RI RAIDER wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 8:40 am Unfortunately, that is our country's biggest problem. Yea, some pretty big generalizations are being thrown around. Yes, parenting properly will fix a lot of issues. But poverty can also be identified. And the education system being as broke as it is can also be a factor. And that does not even begin to address mental issues. CTE has shown that even solid guys like Seau cannot control once your mental health is diminished. And his was due to blows to the head. You can be born with bad wiring. I think parenting is very important, but these kids do not have fully developed brains until they are in their 20's. A single mistake as a youth can ruin your life.RI RAIDER wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 8:40 am Unfortunately, that is our country's biggest problem. As was discussed earlier, many of you guys were driving drunk as teens (I was not, I did not really get into drinking until college and did not have a car when I was at college) but you guys escaped a potential bad situation. Others are not so lucky. Think Ruggs, he was not a troubled guy until he got behind that wheel. Now that is all he is.
But I am very concerned about the generation coming up. I really do think that social media is hitting them hard and is going to ruin a good chunk of that generation. Tic Tok alone could do that by itself.

There are no doubt many problems, but I still think parenting or lack thereof (absentee fathers who just donated seed, parents who do not know where their kids are at 2 in the morning, parents who do not work with their kids) is a big problem. Proper parenting will not solve all the ills of society, but it would be a good jump start. These kids need parenting more than ever. Its much tougher for kids of today than when we were kids. Kids today have far more pressures (social media, someone always watching you, financial, etc.) and a parents job may be more important (and tougher) today than ever before.

yea, I don't disagree. But I do see huge contributing factors. Mostly revolving around social media. The predators are going to prey on weak minds and twist and subvert them, and their families have no idea. And now with deep fakes available, there are even more challenges.RI RAIDER wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 11:47 am There are no doubt many problems, but I still think parenting or lack thereof (absentee fathers who just donated seed, parents who do not know where their kids are at 2 in the morning, parents who do not work with their kids) is a big problem.
