Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

Thank you. Completely agree. Give me Pierce all day. He will fit here like a glove. Shaheed is extremely overrated as a pass catcher and Tucker is literally the same guy, just not as good a returner.Hellbound wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 3:29 pm Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but why pursue Shaheed when you have Tucker & Thornton as speed guys already on the roster. Not sure Shaheed is that much more of an improvement over Tucker. Especially at the cost it will take. Yes I know about the cap space but seems to me that money would be better if allocated elsewhere

I agree there but the tag is 28.1M and the Colts currently have 35.6M in cap and no QB signed.DanKD wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 3:39 pm He will probably be franchised so I wouldnt get your hopes up at this point.
The cap is BS i know and can be worked i get it, but he is still a UFA and players hate the tag. They often sit but I dont think see that happening.
Overall I think the Colts put themselves in a bad situation by trading thier next 2 first rounders for Sauce and a QB problem.
Pierce may force himself out and if so it'll be by trade after they tag him adding at what price?
Id trade a 3rd for him easy and from his stats may be about right.
57 1000 and 6

Would love to get Shaheed.. Shouldn't cost too much. But Pierce is one of my least favorite guys this off-season. Dude's production last year was a flukeBoKnows81 wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 1:45 pm ESPN’s Ryan McFadden believes Alec Pierce and Rashid Shaheed are players the Raiders “could target” in free agency.
Part of the offensive overhaul under Klint Kubiak will be to figure out how to fix last year’s wideout room, which ended the season with Tre Tucker and a dusty Tyler Lockett getting the majority of the snaps. Franchise-tagging Pierce could be in play for the Colts. Kubiak just spent half a season with Shaheed, so that pairing has some extra juice. (Though it should be noted Shaheed didn’t exactly thrive on offense with Kubiak.)

Shaheed is a world class returner, might cost like 6-7 mill max, and wouldn't take snaps from those guys. Tucker/Thornton will have to prove their worth separate of someone like Shaheed. He's not taking their spotHellbound wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 3:29 pm Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but why pursue Shaheed when you have Tucker & Thornton as speed guys already on the roster. Wow. I couldn't disagree more. Shaheed is so f[raiders_icon]cking overrated as a pass catcher and Tre Tucker is the same guy, just without the return capabilities. Pierce is EXACTLY what we need here under Kubiak. No way was his production a fluke.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 4:28 pm Would love to get Shaheed.. Shouldn't cost too much. BTW, I thought you wanted to break the bank for Pickens?

Pierce maxes out at 45 catches a year. Pickens caught close to a 100? I don't think Pickens is a necessary move, but at least I'm chasing productive players lolBoKnows81 wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 4:30 pm Wow. I couldn't disagree more. That's a piss poor argument when we already have a guy that's gonna command 100 receptions without the headache.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 4:38 pm Pierce maxes out at 45 catches a year. Plus, 47 catches with 6 TDs and 21.3 yards per catch is fine with me. Thats with scrubs throwing him the ball.
Do the math.

The Bowers argument lacks football IQ. He isn't a #1 WR, he is a #1 TE. He doesn't play the X and unlocking Bowers and Mendoza's potential will require a legitimate receiver in the pass game.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 4:43 pm That's a piss poor argument when we already have a guy that's gonna command 100 receptions without the headache.

I will agree with you (I think you mentioned this in another thread), we don't need to make the move for a #1 this year. But we need one. Bowers isn't a substitute in my eyes.
But I'd gladly give up the hope of a #1 WR for Devin Lloyd and a pass rusher. I think Pickens is unlikely and ultimately I'd avoid guys like Pierce altogether. Shaheed should be a lot less expensive though.

He's one of, if not, the best returners in the NFL and can serve as a deep threat on occasion. The offensive line being terrible overshadowed how bad special teams were last season. The team needs to improve this area just as much as anything else as field position matters a lot.Hellbound wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 3:29 pm Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but why pursue Shaheed when you have Tucker & Thornton as speed guys already on the roster. Yeah I’m sick of shitty returners. An elite return guy changes things for the offense and can completely flip a game with 1 play. If he can also be a decent option in the WR rotation and it’s only 6-7 mil then I think it’s a no brainer.
Thornton did not impress, no clue why he won’t out jump guys on 50/50 balls.

I know I'm in the minority but i think mike evans would be a good fit for probably half the price of pierce. Great hands and red zone target. He still has enough left that defenses have to respect him which helps the rest of the offense. His ties to brady and spytek make this a realistic option.

The end.

I think Evans 32yo sticks it out in TB and finishes his career there if they offer.
The Raiders are 2-3y from being meaningful and by then wed be in the market for another WR.
I want a WR who still has something to offer in 2 years and certainly not give 2 years of reps to Evans.

Lacking football IQ is thinking Brock is actually a TE.
