Not sure why they show Rice, those are solid numbers that is not top-tier WR #'s.

Really wish we knew what Jakobi's number is. What're our beat reporters paid for?

I think the Rice thing was a comparison, not a joke.
Look it’s not my money it’s easy for me to say pay him 30 million bucks a year and considering how much money the tournament pass and how much money they’ve blown on bad contracts and shitty players pay this man the money keep them f[raiders_icon]cking happy keep him on the team.
A lot of players in this league would not be bowling right now. They would be sitting at home watching on TV in a suit waiting to be traded. This man wants to be there if he wants to be with the team he wants to win with the team. What else can you ask for?

Contact powski98 receptions 1,185 yards and no drops, along with great blocking and team first player is important. Also not a diva, which is rare.
I'd like them to at least give him a little bump in pay for this year. It would be a gesture of good will and good for morale.

I believe in keeping him around too. He’s a unicorn as a receiver. Great hands, willing blocker, good guy/teammate, and zero f[raiders_icon]cking diva shit.powski wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 3:58 pm 98 receptions 1,185 yards and no drops, along with great blocking and team first player is important. Not necessarily immediately though. Let him and his agent have a few games see how good the rest of the receiver room is. By the looks of things I think him and his agent will find common ground with the Raiders due to how good the rest of our receivers are. Winning also makes things smoother.
We WANT to keep Meyers a Raider. We may not NEED to keep him a Raider. Everyone should understand that as they find the numbers that work for the new contract.

They could double his bump for 1 year. That's what he's worth on a multi-year.powski wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 3:58 pm 98 receptions 1,185 yards and no drops, along with great blocking and team first player is important. Also not a diva, which is rare.

Did he show up and play his ass off? It appears so to this fan who literally just watched a highlight of the game which included several plays he made.
But overall his numbers are upper middle of the pack over the last 17 games. Frankly, that is so bad a comparison. He played for the ultimate NFL joke last year. He played with a couple clowns behind center and still put up upper middle of the pack numbers.
I suspect he is about to have a helluva "show me" year to get his money.

Your last comment "show me" for too many WR's is a trap, they take the money and their stats drop as we know, not saying Jakobi would do that, but it plays out for so many players at all positions that way, the contract year performance and then easy street.Attyla wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 11:45 pm Did he show up and play his ass off? He could be a 1400 yard receiver for us and as much as I like him, I don't see top 5 WR in the league. So I'll always have that top dollar offer unavailable because you have to pay a whole roster and if we become a winning team there are a lot of players who are way way under market, much lower than Jakobi that will need to be paid fair dollar, not top dollar.
Looking at some numbers, plenty of teams with low total team WR salaries made the playoffs and many with high team wr salaries did not. We have that damn Dead Money amount that's very high, people getting paid that weren't worth it and aren't here and we have to pay current players in some cases NFL peanuts because of it.

We are 6th in dead cap money, but if that is with Wilkens still on there. If we get that off the books it takes it down to 47, 13th overall, which isnt great, but isn't too bad either.SkullCrusher wrote: Wed Sep 10, 2025 8:20 am Your last comment "show me" for too many WR's is a trap, they take the money and their stats drop as we know, not saying Jakobi would do that, but it plays out for so many players at all positions that way, the contract year performance and then easy street.

2026 we have 30 million in dead cap, but again, if we can get clear of Wilkens money we have virtually no dead cap space.

The highest-paid NFL wide receiver for the 2025 season is the Cincinnati Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase, who has an average annual salary of $40.25 million following a historic contract extension. Other top-earning wide receivers in 2025 include Justin Jefferson ($35 million), CeeDee Lamb ($34 million), D.K. Metcalf ($32.99 million), and A.J. Brown ($32 million).
Meyers is making $14,968,634 this season.
I think mid 20s or so would be fair. Say a 3-4 year deal.
