The QB famous for thinking he was in a Canadian Football League end zone. Though he has a chance now to become even more famous as a mouth-piece and ass-clown for CAA.

Attyla wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2026 5:55 am Simpson is intriguing as a developmental QB, and the sample size was very small. He has a chance if the right team takes him and stashes him on the bench to work his way into being a future starter in the league.

Mendoza is a starter in this league.

That is the difference.
The Rams for me would be the perfect situation for Simpson

Great coach, great system for him, good roster & would be sitting behind Matt Stafford for a year or two, even if it was only for a year that would be invaluable

There are levels between the two & i don't even think you could argue that Simpson has more upside either

I’m glad other teams are on the other side this for a change & we are in the driving seat

Ooops..... I originally posted this in the wrong thread:

A couple of things about Orlovsky's take:

1. He's made himself a guest on whatever show he wants, because agreeing with consensus is less interesting than going against the grain. He's managed to make himself relevant in the draft discussion, when I don't think he was ever relevant before.

2. I find this interesting: "Dan Orlovsky says that he texted 12–15 GMs/decision-makers that Alabama QB Ty Simpson is the best QB in the draft, and only 2 disagreed." Does that mean that 10-13 agreed, or that they ignored his text like I would ignore it if SFRF texted me about pee troughs? It's interesting that he never said if even a single decision-maker agreed.

NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2026 4:13 pm I've seen contrarian takes when there is a consensus QB1, but never someone as proud about their take as Orlovsky. I really do think he has some kind of incentive to take this position, because statistically speaking he is going to be proven wrong. It makes no sense to take this strong of a stance on any college prospect, Mendoza included. To do it for TY Simpson reeks of an ulterior motive. But hey maybe Dan is right and Simpson will be a pro bowler lol
It’s just such a bad take. Even if it’s not as nefarious as being a paid endorsement from their common agency… it’s got an obvious click bait element to it.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion and he could very well wind up being right since drafting QBs always has some element of randomness in the outcomes. But in terms of prospect measures, Mendoza is objectively better and it’s not particularly close. Would also add that 1 year starters haven’t faired particularly well as of late.

Even the draft value argument would be a better debate: ie, trade down with say Cleveland - you get their two 1sts this year plus their first next year and then take Simpson later. Does Simpson + 2 extra 1sts = Mendoza? If you’re high on Simpson or not that high on Mendoza, there’s an argument there. But to just say he’s a better QB is kind of laughable

When Danny Boy had to get clarification on the definition of what Mendoza's "big games" were I had to laugh.

Orlovski's just playing the heel like the Iron Sheik did back in the 1980s WWF.

Maybe Mendoza will end up a bad player, but in terms of prospects/potential it's difficult to find many significant flaws. Everyone knows this.

He started with a slightly controversial take after watching Mendozas first half of th season film. Then he saw all the attention he got for it and then doubled and tripled down and keeps going further to get more and more attention. He found his niche. Im sure next year he will think Sam Leavitt is better than Arch manning

It doesn't really matter if these talking heads are accurate as long as they're controversial and can drive eyeballs and clicks. How else could you explain windbags like Stephen A. Smith making the money that they do?

We do not know if if will translate to the NFL but this is what makes guys like Brady and Mahomes great. Not piling up stats against shit teams during the regular season.

He is a hack who is lucky to be doing what he is doing. Sucked as a baller and sucks as a head. He is lucky that he played college ball in ESPN's backyard (he must have developed connections).
