Klint Kubiak - Officially Head Coach
Figured it is best to start a new official thread around Kubiak being our HC as the other one was built up so much around the search. His introduction presser is at 11 PST today.

I really like that idea...Kubiak seems like a "no nonsense" kind of coach. Maybe a harbinger of good things to come for the Raiders?

Big Linc said he loves this and this or similar methods are something he has experienced at all levels of play.

Right and I think Tom believes this to.chucker wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 6:46 am I love this concept. It seems like Mike Mcdonald follows this process and hopefully Kubiak does as well.

Coach Kubiak is the exact opposite of Carroll. He’s not a rah rah guy, he’s all about action. He seems very intentional with his words which, to me is a reflection of his coaching. I love that he’s focusing on the fundamentals that pay dividends in the long run.
I have a feeling that the Raiders will be competitive each week. Hoping this competitiveness translates into enough wins to put the league on notice.
Thanks for sharing.

It is interesting that we bash Carroll's methods and style of coaching. Fans have short memories. His method and style of coaching won him a National Championship and a Super Bowl. He is one of very few to do both. Game passed him by, it happens to most coaches. We hired him too late in his career, but rah rah coaches have their place as well. Belichick was also a helluva coach, but like Carroll the game has passed him by. But it does not diminish his career. Shell at one time was a helluva coach. Nobody is hiring him today. And to be fair, Carroll was a players coach, not a rah rah guy. He liked interacting with the players and the players loved his attitude. But he knew his stuff and coached up his players in his prime.JP808 wrote: Wed May 06, 2026 11:42 pm Coach Kubiak is the exact opposite of Carroll. He’s not a rah rah guy, he’s all about action. Carroll was a helluva coach and I was excited when he first signed up. Then I see him doing the wrestling with the players during practice and heard of the other antics. I thought, hey this is his way of motivating his guys. Week 1 I was like this might work. Week 2 onward there was no improvement.Attyla wrote: Thu May 07, 2026 6:08 am It is interesting that we bash Carroll's methods and style of coaching. Fans have short memories. My point is that perhaps this team needs a grinder for a coach. Kubiak is straight business and you see it in his interviews. The practice field is the same vibe. No playing around just football and fundamentals. Hoping that Kubiak’s style of coaching turns into years of winning.

Its a balance and different personalities can be successful. You need to be authentic to who and what you are. It goes too far the other way also like Mcdaniels.JP808 wrote: Thu May 07, 2026 8:18 am Carroll was a helluva coach and I was excited when he first signed up. Carroll and Brady go way back and he was brought in to one thing, tank.
Carroll had nothing to gain by winning unlike every coach in the Mark era.

I just can't buy that one. If The Raiders wanted to lose they could've just kept PierceKillerRaider30 wrote: Thu May 07, 2026 6:20 pm Carroll and Brady go way back and he was brought in to one thing, tank.

Pierce had the passion and desire, but simply had little to no experience with dealing with certain things.

Gruden was a good HC if given a talented roster, but so can most in the league. He, however, lacked the ability to assemble one. He didn’t allow the GM to do their job and constantly had his fingers in the cookie jar, and that falls on Davis for not drawing lines in the sand.DanKD wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 8:51 am With the lack of talent on the roster abd blown picks Gruden 2.0 was headed back in the toilet. He was actually still a solid coach but his ego and F- level roster building doomed him to fail.
Kubiak seems to know his role and by appearances works well with Spytek, as evidenced by FA and the draft. Their actions, approach and decisions thus far paint a picture of a very good strategy. If Kubiak can get the youngsters to buy into what he’s trying to do he has a great chance to be successful. His selection of coaching staff to surround him is impressive and we have the hope and anticipation we haven’t had in many years.
I should clarify, we have justified hope and anticipation, not some made up, sprinkled fairy dust shit.
