I get what you're saying and yes kudos for them taking a swing. The thing is, everyone including my wife who doesn't know what a touchdown is, knew Richardson wasn't a qb. He was horrible in college. He had no reason to be drafted before the 5th rd. This isn’t hindsightOaktown Superman wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 8:24 am Well, what they’re doing ain’t working. But they need to get a good QB by hook or crook. Looks like the AR 15 experiment didn’t pan out, but gotta give them (Colts) respect for at least grafting him. Raiders draft guys like Ferrell, Leatherwood, Abram, Arnette, who flopped. If they’re gonna flop in the first, at least try to better the QB position.
Actually i think the Colts screwed that whole thing up. They overdrafted a raw as sushi, badly in need of development QB, than in his 1st season they let him run the ball like he is still playing college football against college kids and he predictably gets injured. So his first season ends up being a wash he gets zero development. Enters his 2nd season still raw, gets hurt again - no development. 3rd season still raw, now looks like a bust. They should have been cautious with him and told him you need to protect yourself when you run the ball your big ass is gonna get lit up if you try to take on NFL players, take the safe yardage.Willmark wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 8:45 am Correct.
The are smart for realizing that while AR15 is a great athlete he is not a very good QB. Better to recognize that early, stop the bleeding and move on.
This is 100% true. If you were going to take him it had to be with the plan to sit him for two seasonsrcraider wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 5:25 pm Actually i think the Colts screwed that whole thing up. Sit him for two seasons for what? To prolong the sucking? He was never going to be a good QB. I give the Colts props for correcting that disaster rather quickly.DanKD wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 6:17 pm This is 100% true. If I was the GM I would have never drafted him in the first place.rcraider wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 5:25 pm Actually i think the Colts screwed that whole thing up. QB's like Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel were drafted in the first by teams who needed a QB in a bad way. They didn't pan out, but kudos to them for addressing their need. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, I think was said by Wayne Gretzky. Chuckles was enamored with Derek Carr for some odd reason, and if he was still coaching the Raiders, DC is still the QB. And that's why the Raiders are in the mess they're in right now. They have neglected the QB position for way too long. And they never tried to adequately address it, but with other team's castoffs.Hellbound wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 9:29 am I get what you're saying and yes kudos for them taking a swing. Anyways, yes take your swing but don't be absolute idiots about it
He was going in the first round anyways, the media was blowing smoke up his ass all season in his rookie year.rcraider wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 5:25 pm Actually i think the Colts screwed that whole thing up. Woods is quickly becoming my choice as well.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 8:41 am We need a QB in a bad way, but if the one we want is gone, I would take Peter Woods (DT) of Clemson or Francis Mauigoa (OT) of Miami. At this point, they are the two safest choices in the draft for what we need the most-- help on the lines.
I don't think Woods has been a disappointment. I think he has not had enough help on the line. When you can double team an interior lineman like teams have been able to do, the problem is not the guy getting the double team.RI RAIDER wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 9:37 am DT is the hardest position to fill after QB so I am down with Woods. My nephew goes to Clemson and said Woods has been a huge disappointment this season (for what it is worth). I do like the idea of copying the Giants last draft (getting a stud defender and trading up from the 2nd to get a QB (there is always someone who drops). I am not convinced there is a clear cut #1 stud at QB this season. What looked like a great draft on paper is turning out to be a dog. What does that mean? Nothing.
