I know Eisen has caught some strays for asking guests if they think the Raiders should pass on Mendoza to build the roster first...... but he's 100% convicted that the Raiders need to pick Mendoza.

I never understood what people were upset with him about.chucker wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 11:28 am I know Eisen has caught some strays for asking guests if they think the Raiders should pass on Mendoza to build the roster first...... but he's 100% convicted that the Raiders need to pick Mendoza.

I figured he must have said that the Raiders should pass on Mendoza, but I haven't seen an actual quote that reflects that. I think people were overreacting to Eisen conducting an interview with interview questions designed to get guests to weigh in on a popular topic in the media.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 11:56 am I never understood what people were upset with him about.

The gigantic flaw in this whole discussion is that there is a QB in 2027 better than Fernando Mendoza. I doubt there will be, and if there is, you better be drafting #1 overall because that team won't trade out (just as we won't be trading out this year).chucker wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 11:28 am I know Eisen has caught some strays for asking guests if they think the Raiders should pass on Mendoza to build the roster first...... but he's 100% convicted that the Raiders need to pick Mendoza.
The only thing Arch has over Fernando is a legacy last name. There was debate several weeks ago over Moore vs Mendoza, and that's not even a topic anymore.
I think Fernando is the closest thing we've seen to Peyton Manning coming out of the draft, and our fortune as a broken franchise has just changed and we're about to be contenders for a decade plus. Good times on the horizon, and the Eisen discussion is probably a fun topic for media with limited news during the offseason, but there's less than a zero percent chance Fernando Mendoza is not a Las Vegas Raider this season.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 7):

All true. I just posted that because I was tired of Eisen catching strays for a view he doesn't even hold. The chatter about whether the Raiders are "ready" to draft a QB does seem to have faded away for the most part. Fernando still has developing to do to be a good NFL QB, but he's as prepared to take that next step as anyone has been. It's his time and it's the Raiders' time.Corleone wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 12:11 pm The gigantic flaw in this whole discussion is that there is a QB in 2027 better than Fernando Mendoza. Alot of these so called analysts cant stand the idea of Raiders fortunes so dramatically changing for the better. You listen to Mendoza at his press conference and he just has that it factor in spades. I have never heard so many arguments in favor of a qb needy not taking the top rated qb with the 1st overall pick, even if said qb wasn't near the prospect Mendoza is. Even seen these dummy Raiders fans on YouTube who have talked themselves into this belief that Mendoza will be a bust because the RPO heavy offence Indiana runs.Corleone wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 12:11 pm The gigantic flaw in this whole discussion is that there is a QB in 2027 better than Fernando Mendoza. Saying bad teams should fix all their other flaws before drafting the QB was just a stupid question. If you fix your other flaws you will never have a shot at a franchise QB. And were these questions ever presented to other shitty teams with early picks drafting QB's like Manning, Borrows, etc? Franchise QBs have been going #1 for decades, why are the Raiders some how different.
Maybe Rich wants Mendoza? lol...0.14 Rich 0.14....

Roger Goodell walks up to announce the Raiders first pick. He is suddenly possessed by the spirit of Al Davis. With the 1st pick, the Raiders select QB Taylen Green

Taylen helped himself at the combine. Someone is now going to take a shot at him. Maybe even the Jets at number 2. His numbers were eye popping despite his funky delivery of the ball. He is the new Anthony RichardsonDanKD wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 1:48 pm Roger Goodell walks up to announce the Raiders first pick. He is suddenly possessed by the spirit of Al Davis. He's probably worthy of a late 1st but you may be right. I think he's a better prospect than Richardson. More starts and better passer coming in.Attyla wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 2:09 pm Taylen helped himself at the combine. Someone is now going to take a shot at him. Maybe even the Jets at number 2. I have no real idea, but I can see someone saying "we can fix that delivery" and just be in love with his athletic skills.DanKD wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 2:14 pm He's probably worthy of a late 1st but you may be right. So, here is where Mendoza shines. Watch his tape at Cal and then at Indiana. Two different players if you pay attention. He was far more apt to turn the ball over at Cal and his play was erratic. Indiana he becomes far more polished and his ability to lead players on crossing routes and his back shoulder ball becomes elite. What changed? He is the ultimate coachable player. He is really a student of the game and when his coaching improved he demonstrated his coachability. And now he is getting a coach at the next level who knows QBs like the back of his hand.

His mechanics aren’t the best but he’s an athlete no doubt. Whoever drafts him has to also address his footwork.Attyla wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 2:17 pm I have no real idea, but I can see someone saying "we can fix that delivery" and just be in love with his athletic skills.
