Yeah I'm a little puzzled as well, here are his stats for the 2 seasons he played:Hellbound wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 2:46 pm He was? What one of his two career (one in each season) 100 yd games and one game with a career high 5 catches indicated he was on an elite trajection?

Lmao WHAT? No he wasn't.BoJacksonRules wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 2:25 pm Regardless of what side of this you are on, a lot of you are forgetting how he was on an elite trajectory and if this issue hadn’t of ever happened he would definitely be in the current top 10 WR conversation.

I hope this is sarcasm. He elevated his game from total bust to he might carve out a career as a 3rd option.BoJacksonRules wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 2:25 pm Regardless of what side of this you are on, a lot of you are forgetting how he was on an elite trajectory and if this issue hadn’t of ever happened he would definitely be in the current top 10 WR conversation.

The dude was a rd 1 pick for a reason, to deny he was ascending into a very good receiver is not an accurate take. One may argue I saw way more than in him than some, but to act like he wasn’t something special is ridiculous.

He was certainly starting to show some significant improvement and then the KC bus ride game with the long TD kind of showed a flash of what he may have been able to become but I'd say that was about the size of it. I respect your opinion thoughBoJacksonRules wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 5:17 pm The dude was a rd 1 pick for a reason, to deny he was ascending into a very good receiver is not an accurate take. Ever hear of the Bill of Rights? Federalism? Something about all prerogatives not explicitly enumerated in the Constitution as federal powers, are rights reserved to the states.Viper wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 6:47 am I’m not smart enough to know why we, as the US (I understand some on here are outside of this), as one country, can’t be under the same guidelines across the board. All laws. One rule. All circumstances. No safe haven by moving.
Everything, to me, is just too confusing, too much to keep track of.

There is something incongruent about paying homage to Payton's classiness by having a pet, who has a vulgar penchant to drink out of the toilet bowl, as his namesake.Toast wrote: Wed May 13, 2026 5:29 pm When I have named my dogs after people it's always been a Raider player. Walter is the only one that I have named after someone who played for another team. I agree with you. Class act off the field as well.

That's because in the vast majority of those cases, whether they involve intoxication or reckless driving or negligence, there is no intent to kill. If there is no intent, its not murder. Its involuntary manslaughter. To pursue a murder charge, it would have to be a deliberate intent to kill, eg those aholes who deliberately hit the bicyclist for fun. Or if it occurs during the course of another felony, eg a fleeing bank robber clipping a pedestrian.Attyla wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 8:01 am Sentencing laws and guidelines still apply. Also, this is a first offense for the guy so he is not a repeat or habitual. Surprisingly vehicular crimes by and large do not carry that huge a sentence. It really is hard to get a vehicular homicide charge, far easier for vehicular manslaughter.

Oh, I agree. It's never that simple. The complexity of the legalities that you detailed in your post would require multiple attorneys to untangle and that alone would take a huge chunk of whatever monetary restitution could be awarded. You must have a law background?Attyla wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 6:17 am The way this works is thusly. There is not a world where there can be an agreement that a certain percentage of his income could be divvied out to her family. Life just does not work like that. But I do see a world where her family can still file a wrongful death lawsuit. If they won that, once the amount is ruled on, any money he still has could be awarded to the family. There are some laws that protect certain assets but not a significant amount. And if that still does not meet the award, then his wages, regardless of where he works, gets attached. Currently, that amount is limited to 25% of wages referred to as disposable income, or more specifically after taxes and protected amounts. For instance, insurance and such can be considered disposable or not depending on the state. If I recall correctly, Nevada does not protect deductions. So, let's say he makes a team, and let's say it is at the league minimum with no signing bonus. Federal taxes, SSI and Medicare plus any state or local taxes are removed from the calculation. Then each game check gets attached for the state where that game is played and here is the tricky part. Each state's garnishment law goes into effect. Nevada? 25% of that. California, also 25% but they protect more of his wages. But there are states where it maxes out at 15% and then there is Texas. Texas does not allow garnishments in most every case so his entire game checks would be protected. And Kansas? I know there is no team playing in the state but you have to renew all garnishments every 6 months. And there is usually a gap between the end and the start of the new one. If they did an out of market game there and he was in a gap month playing, no wages are attached. And then there is Pennsylvania where not only are federal taxes plus state taxes protected but they also have crazy added protections. City tax, county tax and school tax. Penn taxes their residents to death. Same with a few other states.
How f[raiders_icon]cked up is all of that?
On the subject kind of/sort of did the Goldman's see one dime from OJ's estate when he passed?
