Bro, Al wasn't brilliant concerning player evaluations, he sucked at it. Trading Jim Lachey for Scrotums? Right there I knew Al didn't know shit. Al giving that Cowboys DB Millions of dollars all because the dumbf[raiders_icon]ck had interceptions thrown right to him in the SB. No Al was a stupid ass when it came to player evaluations. Was why he loved Heisman Trophy winners because other people had evaluated the player and given the player the HTrophy.ToastPatterson wrote: Thu Oct 09, 2025 11:26 pm Al was brilliant but he started looking backwards. Todd Marinovich was supposed to be the next Snake. Rob Fredrickson was supposed to be the next Stork.
Ron Wolf was pretty much the only guy Al respected in terms of personnel. I think Ron might have stayed with the Raiders but after his heart attack Bob Urbanick pushed hard for Anthony Smith. Ron didn't like the pick and after Smith's legal history came out Al really worked Ron over for the pick even though he was against it.
I love the organization Al built but I wish he would have trusted the people that he had the foresight to hire.
Al's only gift was his vision for what the Oakland Raiders should be, what colors they should wear and the team philosophy was....players he sucked at.

He once was, I guess I should have qualified my remark. No doubt he was better when Ron Wolf was in the building. In the late 1980's onward he started throwing haymakers and didn't land many of them.ELCAraiderfan wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 10:58 am Bro, Al wasn't brilliant concerning player evaluations, he sucked at it. Beathard fleeced him with the Schroeder trade.

Mike McDaniel, "Um...Where, you..you...to win games you have to win the game, um...not lose the game, honestly. And that that is how you lose the game. You're, um, you're moving the ball down the field, you're first and ten and then you find yourself at second and twenty, um I, um you know at...uh, that, that was critical."

Is that really a quote? Not doubting your veracity Attyla but an NFL head coach actually said that? Good g*d.Attyla wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 9:37 am Mike McDaniel, "Um...Where, you..you...to win games you have to win the game, um...not lose the game, honestly. And that that is how you lose the game. I wanted Flacco for our starting QB this year, but seeing how pathetic the raiders oline is I don't think he would have played as well as he did today with the bengals

This game showed the importance of a #1 WR, for both sides.

This has probably already been mentioned but last night I saw Flacco do an RPO and run 14 or so yards like he was Lamar Jackson. Tell me why he was not a candidate to QB the Raiders? He’s a much better decision maker than Geno and you can’t tell me he’s not as mobile..

because you saw one run does not make him mobile. He is not. In 18 seasons he has averaged about 3 yards per game rushing. That run you saw was 12 yards which is the most yards in a run in 3 years. Anyone can run, hell even Payton Manning could run on occasion, it just was not his game and it is not Flacco's game either. He is a pocket guy who caught the defense sleeping on one play. Flacco does have good, not great, pocket awareness but behind our line he would be dead. I am not all together certain even behind the Bengals line he will survive.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 8:53 am This has probably already been mentioned but last night I saw Flacco do an RPO and run 14 or so yards like he was Lamar Jackson.
