Kaelon Black (RB) Late Day 3 projection; productive and versatile back but lacks elite size/speed traits, which likely keeps him in the 6th–7th round range or UDFA conversation.
Mikail Kamara (EDGE) Fringe Day 3 projection; disruptive motor and college production, but measurables and role projection could push him into the 5th–7th round or undrafted range depending on team fit and testing.

We did hit pay dirt. A NFL ready QB with incredible measurements and highly intelligent. A guy who knows what he does not know and a work ethic like few have. Couple him with a coach who knows QBs. We are not talking years, we are talking months before he kills it. We have exactly what he needs, TEs who can both block and catch and a RB who does not go down at first contact. A couple linemen and we are off to the races. We are playoff bound in 2027, and deep a year later.
And this from a guy who almost never predicts shit before it happens.
That must wreak havoc on your underwear.

There is absolutely no reason to go into the season without a good situation on the oline, and an overall good situation for Mendoza. We have too much cap space and too many other draft picks to just hope for the best in that group.
Build the line for Mendoza and Jeanty this year and let them settle in. It's likely that the defense still lets them down, because we don't really have to resources for a one year overhaul of the D as well. Add some pieces and get ready to build more on D in 2027.
Totally agree. Rome wasn’t built in a day and you’re right we’ll probably wind up punting on defence this year. But if step 1 is get the QB, and step 2 is make sure your QB isn’t getting killed… we should be able to get through both this offseason.

We definitely shouldnt be punting on defense. I want to see significant draft capital spent building up the young talent to develop on defense. But they won't be ready to be good yet.

It’s so stinkin’ deep at DT/DL/NT, I’d be pretty surprised if we didn’t end up with at least 1 drafted.

The good news is, we get to attack this on three separate layers. Free agency will get the ball rolling, the draft will be our second layer and then after the draft teams start the process of cut downs through the summer. We should be fine.

Both Daniel Jeremiah and Mel Kiper have said that not only is Fernando Mendoza worthy of the 1st overall pick, he's the best player coming out in the draft.

McShay has Mendo at 5 behind Love, Reese, Bailey and Downs.
Not that it means a damn thing what he thinks.

McShay has not been terribly high on Mendoza..... he's at least come around to the conclusion that the Raiders should draft him at #1. Both he and his buddy on his podcast liked Dante Moore better. I disagree but it's still good information - they talk enough about their reasons that it's pretty easy to make your own assessment based on what you think matters more. I like hearing all the points of view..... including McShay's incorrect conclusions.

If McShay needed a QB we know what he would do, he kids no one.
Donte Moore knew Donte Moore needed more schooling.
The only argument that makes sense but then if it makes sense it makes no sense for the Jet's who lets just say they are our equal.
Trade the pick to the Jet's for a haul, also with a strong chance at getting a super high if not the first pick next year, but you have all the others players and their #1 next year to, along with this years 2nd pick. It's moderately reasonable to think about it. But then why should they do it? Why should they give up additional picks to get QB they "aren't ready for", when they need as many positions filled as possible? It's the trade for a star issue, you pay for them twice, once in salary and then again in picks? The Raiders get Mendoza for 1 pick, 1 player. The Jets to get Mendoza, would have to give up picks/players they desperately need just to pick him, many picks, 1 player. It actually makes much less sense for the Jet's to do that.
