The only QB numbers currently available on the Raiders roster are 8, 15, and 19

Though I'm also a Yanx fan for life, I grew to hate Jeter for being able to sleep with Hanna every night.

Wrong guy in my opinion. And while I keep reading we can trade him before the 10M kicks in but I have serious doubts we can. I think we just kicked in 10M for no services. And it all hits our cap next year. Why take a freebie cap hit? Essentially it is so Cousins can get 20M for this season but we get to defer half to hit our cap next year because we don't have that much cap space right now. And for what? So Mendoza does not start the season on the field? So we can pay a guy league minimum this season? Because he worked with Kubiak in the past? So we can check a box that says "position of need?" And then I am told to trust this staff, not happening. Your earn trust, you are not given trust. Spytek last year let a coach run the show. Carroll held court over him. Spytek does not get a pass for that shit. Kubiak, yes, his offense just won him a ring. Great, that was Seattle, he has to earn that trust in Vegas. All of this earning? That happens with results, and you are not given the trust before you see the results.rich72 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 11:43 am I would grade it an A, we arent spending much and it filled a position of need.

They're paying him bc hes worked with Kubiak.
He wont be a deer in the headlights like QBs who haven't played in this system.
I mean, what good are they if they know as much as Mendo?
20M essentially 11.3M for one year? QBs are getting 40M per see Daniel Jones indy.
I'll post this in my words.
Mendoza steps off the rookie bus and all eyes turn twords him.
He's the QB.
No he's not the QB. All pressure off.
He can be a rook. He can learn the system with the other rooks.
Mendoza will not be the CEO on his first day of work.
All the players will not be immediately looking at him for answers.
No pressure.
He can get that smile in the building and work it in first among his rookie peers and after some time can step forward.
I didn't want a mentor. I wanted Mendo to be the guy day one but its beginning to make sense.
Go Raiders!

Probably right, a no trade clause allows him to not be traded to a bum ass team he doesn't want to play for at 38. His future team would be his choice. Good postchucker wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 9:30 am It's a fully guaranteed roster bonus, so the Raiders will have to pay it if they cut him. If he gets traded prior to the bonus date then the new team would pay it. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a no-trade clause or provisions in the contract that simply make a trade highly unlikely because Cousins is shrewd enough to make sure he can double dip.

As far as Aiden, Josh McD drafted him. Trade possibility there? This regime seems competent so far and we did get something for last seasons starting gem.

Here is a far out thought. After reading the story I posted in the Mendoza trade that Simpson may not be far behind Mendoza, you don’t draft Mendoza, trade the spot, move down, get Simpson and rake in more picks to help rebuild this team. Not saying I support that but it’s not totally far-fetched — just very unlikely. Simpson has a few advantages over Mendoza.

In the game vs Indiana Simpson was playing the fetal position.
We are drafting Mendoza.
Prednisone always gave me a Superman kind of buzz. You ok? lol

Trust earned or not, like the move or not, this is what and how Spytek and Kubiak want to develop this team and rookie qb. They’ve said for months this is what they believe in. If the qb had a different last name do you like the move more? I posted earlier that most people believed in having legit competition for a job and it just not being handed to someone. Does it change since it's Mendoza? If so why?Attyla wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 12:00 pm Wrong guy in my opinion. Also I don't believe for one second that Spytek let Carroll have control. I believe Davis set it up giving his hc more control than the gm as he did several times before. For all intents and purposes, Spytek's moves this year prove that as they've all been the complete opposite of last year
