Plenty of time, clean pocket, your ace TE just making his break for the flag route and you choose to throw to a guy triple covered short of the end zone. No disrespect to any of you guys who think he was good or deserved more from the fan base, but we got to watch crap like that for nine years. Great play marred by terrible decision making and panic mode football.
41,245 pqassing yards, 257 TDs, and lasted 11 seasons in the NFL. Doesnt sound like someone who was awful at their job to me.
Yes he had flaws, we all do. Could he have done better? He'd probably say yes to that himself. But c'mon put some respect on the guy. Our teams most career yards, most TDs. Was he a winner? Not enough. But he represented the team with class and dignity. His peers voted him the #11 player in the league in 2017. He hit the top 100 on numerous occasions. I think I'll respect their views before any columnist, beat writer or armchair fan.
Have a great retirement DC. #4
So....no is the answer to that question
So....no is the answer to that question
Carr has a winning record as a starter for the Saints, by one game. Ironically, the QB with the highest winning percentage during that span is Taysom Hill, who is 7-2
One thing Carr was good at was changing the play at the line of scrimmage, that is, audiblelizing (how do you spell that anyway?). . He had a good football mind in that regard. He also was good at leading in the two-minute drill. Not listing the negatives as there are too many echos here for that.
Saints fan here. First off, good luck in the AFC this year as we are on opposite ends of the league.
Odd that you think Carr was good at reading defenses and changing plays. Saints fans talked about the fact that when he changed plays at the line of scrimmage it seemed to always go really bad.
We had to have our center, McCoy, call out protections at the line of scrimmage when Carr was QB. When McCoy went down with an injury, the offense cratered.
Carr did not endear himself to the fans here or the city. Pretty much everyone is ready to have the Dennis Allen/Carr era over, erased and forgotten about.
That third down and goal play is as telling as any… No one around him, he feels the phantom pressure, lunges backwards and throws it away… A true DC (Dickless Cunt)!
"Owwww, my shoulder"
If it wasn't for that shoulder, he would of lead that team to the Super Bowl!
Buuuuuut... he had to retire. Nothing to see here. These aren't the droids you are looking for. Move along, move along...

I think a lot of this is probably driven by the miscarriage his wife just had. An additional surgery, uncertainly on how he will return and how much longer he’d play at his age on top of general wealth made this a thought but that miscarriage likely shook him to his core. It’s time to be with the family and he may come off as corny and a little phony at times but he does seem like a true family man. Wish him luck.

Kudos to you guys being able to jettison him after two years. We had to endure the torture that is Derek Carr for nearly ten years.
Last 6-7 were frustrating to say the least.

I'm merging this with the Sephora thread. Open to ideas for a new thread title.
Carr certainly left some money on the table by retiring and not just getting surgery to collect his $30 million - I'm sure part of that was that he didn't want to risk looking bad trying to come back, but he could have milked it and collected his money before ultimately retiring before even trying to take another snap. Good on him...... and I haven't said that a lot since 2016. He was the most average QB we've had since Gannon...... everyone else was below average to varying degrees.
Has a professional athlete ever made as much money as Carr without having won a single playoff game? I can't think of anyone even close.
Sam Bradford is a close 2nd, but he at least won a playoff game.
