We did hit pay dirt. A NFL ready QB with incredible measurements and highly intelligent. A guy who knows what he does not know and a work ethic like few have. Couple him with a coach who knows QBs. We are not talking years, we are talking months before he kills it. We have exactly what he needs, TEs who can both block and catch and a RB who does not go down at first contact. A couple linemen and we are off to the races. We are playoff bound in 2027, and deep a year later.Corleone wrote: Tue Feb 03, 2026 2:54 pm This is interesting, we know most the media are known Raider haters and are going to downgrade Mendoza every opportunity they get, but the evidence is becoming pretty clear that it's not our own Raider bias telling us that Mendoza looks like a franchise QB.
This article polls 11 executives on where Mendoza would rank in the last 3 drafts (QB's like Young, Stroud, Caleb W, Drake Maye, J Daniels, Cam Ward), and Mendoza comes out as the top ranked guy.
Another thing that was really going to tell us how NFL people grade Mendoza was our coaching search, and turns out, the #1 available offensive coach, chose to come to the Raiders, and I'm guessing in large part because of the QB situation. We've seen year after year after year, young promising coaches turn us down for this very reason, but Mendoza has already changed the fate of our franchise.
I really think we've hit pay dirt.
And this from a guy who almost never predicts shit before it happens.

It’s just a dumb take from orlovsky because it’s not a performance based assessment at all. Manning is going back because he didn’t look NFL ready. Would the hype machine that is his last name get him picked 1st overall this year anyways? It’s possible. But it’s just a dumb arguement. It’s hard to argue any QB would go ahead of manning in almost any draft unless he looks like total dog shit.raidersince63 wrote: Tue Feb 03, 2026 4:49 am Never had a favorable opinion about Dan, but this is possibly his worst take ever...still SMH.

I checked Botesboats' numbers out, he's actually projecting the snap count according to the existing Indiana talent (rather than estimating how he'd do with better WR talent.)NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Feb 03, 2026 4:26 pm Yea it's hard to prognosticate these kind of things. I have him closer to 4K than Burrow's numbers. Personally I think he only left 400-500 yds on the table due to lack of talent. Either way, his numbers are elite before any type of bell curve. He scored at ease against elite college defenses.
A big reason Mendoza's snap count was so low was being pulled super early in a good chunk of games. For the snaps he played, his rate is nearly at Burrow's insane 2019 level. Wild.

Yup. I scaled his stats projected out at Burrows snap count. Burrow also played in an air raid system, so he was bound to get more attempts compared to a balanced Indiana offensive scheme. Still, like you said, it's wild and doesn't get much attention.Arsenal Raider wrote: Tue Feb 03, 2026 6:59 pm I checked Botesboats' numbers out, he's actually projecting the snap count according to the existing Indiana talent (rather than estimating how he'd do with better WR talent.)

Also, just for you, my local Adidas continues to be out of my size in Arsenals away kit. I need to get one of them before the seasons end

Thanks for that clarification. Hadn't looked at it that way. Had no clue he was pulled early from a lot of games

Fun fact - we haven't won a playoff game in Mendoza's lifetime. Hopefully, he will change that.

Hopefully without Burrows' tendency to be hurt!chucker wrote: Tue Feb 03, 2026 3:35 pm It's also notable that Joe Burrow's final year was when he was almost a year older, with one more year of college than Mendoza. That's not to say that Mendoza would match it if he returned for another season, but I think it's unlikely that Burrow would have returned for that season if he'd had the kind of junior year that Mendoza had - winning the Heisman and a national championship.
I think Burrow is the best comp in style of play. Smart, accurate, an arm that's good but not great and I think the key commonality is that they both play great in the biggest moments when so many players are wilting under the pressure.

His biggest claim to fame is that when playing for the Lions he once ran out of the back of his own end zone for a safety. Ironically that safety was within what turned out to be the margin of victory. To make matters worse, that game was the closest the Lions came to victory in their historic 0-16 season.
So he's an idiot

I can give a f[raiders_icon]ck what pundits and blow hards say. We should all be EXCITED about having this kid. Could he flame out. Sure, just like ANY QB. I am just glad we have him and are finally taking a swing. I know some are nervous about hiring Klint and getting him to sign on the dotted line. I am nervous about this team trading the pick. I do not care what anyone offers. Please no contact with anyone. I for one will have angst until he wears that beautiful uniform. Speaking of our uniforms, maybe we should have a patch on them. How about patches that say either PBC (Pete Brandon Carroll) or Geno for their exceptional contributions.

We're not trading the pick. Vinny is reporting today (I know, I know) that KK wouldn't have taken the job if we didn't have the QB situation sorted out, and in this situation that means Mendoza. The logic is solid, an offensive guy looking for his first head coaching job is setting himself up for failure if he doesn't have clarity on what his QB situation will be.RI RAIDER wrote: Wed Feb 04, 2026 3:47 am I can give a f[raiders_icon]ck what pundits and blow hards say.
