Dude's less pliable than wet toilet paper

Carried over from the other thread:
I suppose it can all be boiled down to this. He's an extremely rare case of someone who did well enough to hang onto the starting job for a very long time without actually being elite. He also consistently had horrible defenses which probably helped management keep bringing him back because "if we give him more help we can be contenders" which never materialized on that side of the ball.
He hits all the classic metrics of a franchise QB while also being aggressively mediocre so I can see why it's difficult to really label him as one.
As to the first part, he was our QB for so long because of strange reluctance of multiple regimes to replace him. It was truly bizarre. Even Joey Harrington only got 5, Carr got almost double that
As to the classic metrics part I’m struggling to see that honestly. His stats are nothing to write home about and for the most part below average. More than anything that speaks to the history of this franchise regarding QBs rather than Carr.
Lastly his career here is even more puzzling. Yes defenses were bad while h was here but at the same time his woes are the result of him; I.e his flaws. Basically if you look at the scouting report he is the same QB who entered the league. Either he felt he didn’t need to improve or won’t, maybe couldn’t?

Either he felt he didn’t need to improve or won’t, maybe couldn’t?
The metrics I'm referring to specifically are:
Long term starter (9 consecutive years)
Universal praise as a great leader and locker room presence by literally every single player who came through the organization throughout those 9 years
Holding nearly every team passing record, some of which are almost double that of the #2 guy.
Any player for any team that meets those criteria SHOULD and typically ARE held in high esteem by the fanbase of said team. Carr is incredibly divisive within the fanbase and not without good reasons. It's such a weird thing and of course it could only happen to the Raiders.
I understand the reasons for the team records but it still holds true that pretty much every other team really likes the QBs that hold their team records and we absolutely do not.

Leads the league in come back wins because being lackluster for 3 quarters and then firing up is so damn exciting. But also one of the worst when it comes to failed come back wins. That's the funny thing about come back wins. They are so damn exciting when they happen. When they don't happen....they are just losses

I share this in the vein of “misery loves company.”
From a Saints forum… we tried to warn them:
How can DCarr throw damn near 40 times and not eclipse 200 yards & 0 TDs? Raider fans were on to something.
He's average folks. Nothing special.
No we weren’t “on to something” we saw it with our own eyes year after year since 2017.

In today's episode of "what they're saying", Saints edition...

Alvin Kamara wanted to call out Derrick Carr and the coaches. His comments were short but telling. Derrick Carr has lost his teammates. I said before the game that if Carr played he was faking that injury last week and it showed today. You can clearly see his butt was not injured. He’s just a bad quarterback that has regressed even more than we all thought. Say whatever you want about Jameis and Dalton last season but Carr is worse than both of them. Carr is a massive downgrade from them. I rather see Jameis Winston go full risk it mode than continue watching Carr. At least we would get to see some touchdowns.
For Carr and the Saints to have any chance this season, these three things have to happen:
1. Carr has to get rid of the ball faster - even if that means throwing it away - to avoid taking the sack.
2. When Carr gets pressured, he has to MOVE!! He has to either run to buy time, or run for yardage, but he CANNOT just "wince in place" until he goes down!?!
3. The offensive staff has to provide quick OUTLET routes to allow Carr to release quickly when necessary, without taking a sack, throwing an interception or wasting a down.
If all three of the above things don't happen - it's going to be a LONG, losing season, and Carr's best days are behind him.
Not sure if this will happen or not but Allen should be fired after the season ends. He was given every opportunity to succeed and has failed miserably so far this season. The same thing with Carr. He has all the weapons he needs but has only produced 2 touchdowns in 4 games.
I rather Dalton over Carr. That says plenty about what I think about Derrick Carr
...Carr is not accurate. He’s hit or miss. He throws hospital balls to his receivers. He almost got Olave and Kamara killed with some of those hospital throws
I'm sorry, Carr was much worse watching live. Everyone kept yelling, Throw the Damn ball. There was even a PUT HILL IN chant that broke out in the section I was in. Carr had opportunities that he simply did not take and when he did his throws weren't accurate.
It's clear, we need a new Coach and Quarterback!
That’s how it looked on the television as well
I’ve been a Saints fan forever but I can’t continue watching this team knowing they’re not playing to win games. I know they’re not going to replace Carr because they invested to much money in him so I can’t watch this team anymore. He’s clearly worse than Winston and the rookie. He’s not accurate and holds onto the football to dam long. If he’s really a man he should step down because he’s cooked as a player in this league. He should have retired like he said he was going to because he’s done.
Olave has shown us how talented he is... how does this OC and Qb have Olave at a single reception for 4 yds today?
How with this receiving corps are there only 2 receiving TDs in four complete games?
Washington backup is better than Carr
Never thought I’d miss Andy Dalton…or Billy Joe Hobert/Tolliver/Weurfell.
Derek Carr just needs a defense and then he will suceed
You forgot the sarcasm font
Ok I’ve been a Carr supporter up until now but he is playing like one of the worse QBs in football
He's been that way with the Raiders all along
Go ahead gayle fire Allen an make carr ride the bench till we can trade him out of here
He was open. Carr is not accurate
How much for carr again now we see why him an Allen were let go
Where the carr fans no I wanna see the excuses for his play dude a seasoned vet an this how he plays he’s been terrible since week 1 but we don’t wanna tell it like it is
I tried to be a Carr fan. Even if I'm still a Carr fan, there's no excuse for that turd (I mean that hot steaming pile) that he laid today
Mayfield is miles better than Carr
You cannot win when your offense goes 3 and out pretty much a whole game. Defense cannot stand up and be expected to last when they are playing 80-90% of the game. No defense is that good.
This is what I stated earlier. The defense quits once they see the offense can’t do anything

I thought sure they wouldn't be saying this until around week 10, but they're catching on already after 4 games.
Verdict: Saints fans per capita are smarter than Raider fans. (Of course, they WERE warned by me and others.) LOL

#Raiders Derek Carr lost his 55th game as a starting quarterback. Only QB to lose more in his first 6 seasons was David Carr with 56

Tampa Bay Buccaneers New Orleans Saints
Buccaneers 26, Saints 9
There was question about Derek Carr playing in this game, as Jameis Winston was the projected starter for most of the week. It was shocking that Carr was announced as the starter, but it didn’t seem plausible that he would be 100 percent in this divisional battle. It turned out this was the case, as Carr struggled to move the chains downfield. Sustaining drives was also an issue, with the Saints converting just 5-of-14 third downs.
The Buccaneers, conversely, had no issues moving the chains on the Saints. Their offense was explosive against a Saints team that ranked highly on the defensive side of the ball. This was despite Mike Evans suffering a hamstring injury during the opening half. Even though Evans was sidelined for a stretch, Baker Mayfield was excellent, as he was able to rebound from the blowout loss against the Eagles to win in New Orleans.
There was a stark difference between the two quarterbacks. Carr looked lost when trying to get the ball downfield. He had a fine completion percentage overall (23-of-37), but threw for just 127 yards. Excluding one instance, Carr’s longest completion was 12 yards. He had opportunities, including two tries when he had Chris Olave open deep downfield, but Carr couldn’t connect with him. He was also way wide of Michael Thomas on an intermediate pass. Carr was only accurate when tossing checkdowns. He was eventually pulled in favor of Jameis Winston, but the game was decided by then.

Man it gets worse for the Saints next year too, consider:
2nd oldest team
https://bookies.com/nfl/picks/nfl-teams-average-age
Granted the cap goes up next year but they are in a bad spot to start from:
https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/new-orleans-saints
And they can't get out of their contract with their current QB until 2025, even then the hit is there. Not end of the world but still 5.7 million if I read it right.
