I think for the last 9 years the common excuse for Carr was “he’s not our biggest problem”…. But it’s also become apparent he’s not the solution either. Truth be told Our biggest problem has been management - hopefully Ziegler finally gives us some semblance of competence at GM.
Agreed, Carr isn't the answer. Ziegler has a lot to prove in year 2. His first season was rocky, at best.

-The Renfrow / Waller extensions look very iffy right now. Particularly Waller's who was still on the books for 2 seasons, yet given a good faith extension.
-The Chandler Jones FA signing - possibly the worst high profile FA signing in the entire league
-Patrick Graham signing, anyone still ecstatic about that? Jury still out and he will get another shot, but not a good 1st year
-Getting nothing in return for Carr, agreeing to the NTC, lost all leverage

We could go down the rabbit hole of the other FA signings that were busts or underwhelming (Averett, Bolden, Darius Phillips, Nichols, Bars, Kiser, Fackrell, Hollister, Jayon Brown, etc etc) - but those were relatively small contracts. But when you wonder why the Raiders had poor depth, well...
LMAO

https://twitter.com/mtplug_grinder/stat ... 3622322176
Carr not waiving his no trade clause is akin to guy who doesn’t get laid claiming they are celibate.
It is hilarious and gave me a good laugh this morning.

Reality is no team deemed Carr good enough to trade for him AND pay his salary as currently structured. He’s just not that type of guy.

He is a snake oil salesman, once you realize that you see everything he says and does for what it is, a grifter of sorts.

So long
farewell
I agree about Carr but I'm not excusing the Raiders for putting together absolute jack shit since Gannon.
20 f[raiders_icon]cking years.

It's been 21 years since the Raiders had a top 10 defense against points scored. 21 f[raiders_icon]cking years
Look it up
The garbage defense has most definitely gotten old. I look for some serious improvement on that side of the ball in '23, or this regime's ass will get warm quickly.

Any player that leaves I usually wish them the best and thank them for their time. If carr would have been a man about this, I would have held him high raiders reguard once he retired. Carr is being so petty, he can go get f[raiders_icon]cked. He is a complete phony. I hope he crashes and burns and is exposed for the lying fake that he is. Im going to root for him to get crumpled on every play.

Even when the defense did a good job (we know it’s not often enough) Carr has the worst or near the worst winning % in nfl history. Carr has moments but just isn’t that good.

bottom line fellas, Carr had a contract we could get out of, and as a concession he got a no trade clause. Exercising that was very much his option since the team gave him that option. I am surprised he did not agree to a trade, but then again, those meetings in New Orleans took a long time which again tells me there is a back room deal attached. But we allowed him to go talk to them so we have no one to blame for that but our Raider organization.

But he did exercise his options in his contract. I really do not care any more. He can move on down the road and we can move on from the most polarizing player in the last few decades. We just need to build the team and not stroke an ego.
I'm reminded of the old Motley Crew song "girl don't go away mad, just go away" with some of this drama about cutting Carr, just cut him and be over it.
Exactly. Pull the damn Band-Aid for Christ's sakes.

Z gives us something to feel good about today.

Its addition by subtraction. Do it and move on.

It will be interesting to hear which way the team goes on this. Do they retain him and force his hand or just cut bait. Do they get him into the offices with the hopes they can convince him to reverse course? All of this is on the table for sure, just wonder which one{s} they go with.

Should find out something in the next day or so I would think
Are you hearing whispers they may hold him past the release date, or just speculation?
mostly speculation. I reached out to someone and did not hear back. Not surprising since this may have been the most unexpected turn of events and they have closed ranks. So the lack of an answer says more than an answer to me. But again, the guys I am talking to are not inside the walls.

I am calling this right now. Carr to the Jets. The Jets have been very quiet about Carr and they could have already had discussions with his agent. Absolutely no knowledge here, but the lack of talk about Carr to the Jets could be avoiding any tampering charges. The NFL is fine with tampering unless you are stupid and leak out the information like the Dolphins did.

The hiring of Todd Downing, Carr's BFF from his start in Oakland, as a pass-game coordinator is blatantly obvious to me.
