Because saints didn’t want to pay 40 mil..or anyone else
because this way they do not have to give up anything and they get their guy. Saints can back load the contract because they will have a lot of space in 2024
there was always going to be three things to any deal and the one I would not have had direct knowledge of was the no trade. We had reason to think he would in that he did get a visit. My gut tells me he has a deal with the saints. My gut says the Saints tampered and worked a deal with him so that they do not have to give up anything and still get their guy. If he signs with them after free agency opens up, I am almost sure that is what happened.
If Carr signs with the saints there has to be tampering. It’s the only team the raiders agreed he could speak to.
Not sure how you proof it but definitely tampering going on

I wouldn't release him. Hold him, trade him later after he knows it's his only option. I don't think the contract is out of line with what he'll get as a FA.

Petty, but interesting.
It's not petty to try to get a draft pick. It's getting value - we gave him an extra $5 million in 2022 when we extended him so we paid him some money for that contract. If the contract has value, then get something from it.

A 3rd round pick at best, but imo it's not worth risking keeping him.
Just cut the loser already, dead weight ass qb!

Unfortunately the Raiders can’t play games like that because of how bad the contract is, Carr would take up $30 million of the salary cap. That contract is terrible, Ziegler never should have agreed to it.
What a colossal f[raiders_icon]ck up all the way around.
I don’t care how mad you are at Carr, the front office is about to lose “a top FA QB” for literally no compensation.
Ziegler and the rest of the crew that awarded him an untradeable contract extension blew it. BLEW IT. You can hate Carr and still acknowledge he has value in the NFL.
99% on this forum were applauding this contract when it was signed because the raiders could get out off the contract easily. Now 99% are shitting on Z
