Is it our imagination or is there any report the Saints would offer extra picks if LV pays some of Carr's salary?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Inquiring minds want to know.
good question that was brought up yesterday. I have not heard this option is on the table but the info I have is more along the lines of the physical compensation so I am not sure at all. I was asked privately how my contacts would know about anything regarding the deal, and I can safely say it is because the Titans were one of the teams looking at Carr and have been told they have been eliminated before they even put up an offer for consideration.

I say keep Carr and if wants to veto pay him to be a 3rd stringer. Don't give up an asset for nothing.

Especially when so many teams need a QB (jets, panthers, Atlanta, Tampa,Saints, Indy, Washington ) plus teams with concerns at QB such as rams, Houston (probably a draft pick). There are several teams there that I think could compete for a playoff spot with a QB. I don’t see us being stuck with Carr’s salary for long if we let the deadline pass
quote="chucker";p=1132188]
I would love this hardball approach a hell of a lot more if Carr's contract did not possess a no trade clause. It simply gives him almost all of the leverage in this scenario.
No matter what one team might be wanting to give the Raiders if Carr wants to go to another team....then that is where he will go and the Raiders will have to take whatever they are offering for him. And if that team has spoken to Carr, as the Saints have, they could have actually constructed a strategy to screw the Raiders IF the Raiders attempted to play hardball.
Including a no trade clause in the contract last year was the biggest mistake that Z made last year. I think he and Josh made several in dealing with Carr last offseason, but that one was the dumbest one by far.
P.S. You sign a player to large contract but one that is in essence a 'prove it' deal AND also include a 'no trade' clause: it makes no sense at all. IF you sign a player to a prove it deal, the last thing you want in that contract is a 'no trade' clause. That is about as stupid as stupid can get when constructing a 'prove it' deal.
If we let the guarantees vest then the only way for Carr to really screw us is to show up as QB3 (or maybe we make him train as a backup gunner on ST?) and collect money. He'd screw himself more than he'd screw us. Both sides want Carr to move to another team. We paid him an extra $5 million in 2022 to take this extension, I hate the idea of just giving in and letting him go for nothing. Both sides have some leverage - and I don't want the Raiders to be dicks about it, but if Carr forces that then so be it.
As in to sweeten the pot on the pick and help with their cap situation. I mean, we were gonna pay it regardless.
Or…maybe they throw a player or two our way to clear some cap. They could damn near pick a player and we would probably need the position upgraded ha
Just a thought
Just cut that loser, I dont trust that Carr wouldnt sabotage any deal after the deadline is reached. It requires way too much trust.
Wonder if any agreement would hinge upon Carr extending it to protect the organization?
Guess it would depend how bad he wants to go to the Saints

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
