Rich Gannon used to take the game plan home and have his wife quiz him on it. Jamarcus would rather play on his X-Box. It's no small irony that their careers took opposite trajectories.Willmark wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 2:19 pm His “study habits” were legendary too.
It’s amusing. Gene is bad no doubt but he’s getting compared to Russell who is considered the greatest NFL bust of all time if it’s not Ryan Leaf.

It should but apparently people forgot just how bad Jamarcus was.pfish57 wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 2:31 pm Shouldn't the discussion be how bad our present QB is sucking ass???

We should not have given Smith $66 million guaranteed. He's proving now that he is not worth it. I looked at Kenny Picket's college stats. He had an incredible final season in the NCAA. 42 TDs to 7 INTs and over 4000 yards passing. But he hasn't been able to put it all together since he came to the Pros.

So anyways back OT.
Its clear he's struggling, that's putting it mildly.
The question then becomes is when does he get benched? It don't think were going to see much difference between Pickett or AOC12 if they replace Geno so perhaps that's the hesitation? Pete's personal loyalty to Geno is going to be a problem as well.
There is also a point which we know all too well around here: there will eventually be a time when winning games will actually hurt us draft wise. It's clear we need a QB as in decades ago but win just enough games to keep us in draft purgatory (picks #8-16(ish). Stop me if you've heard this before.
At what point does the meaningless few wins we might likely scrape together no be worth it?

I firmly believe you play to win every game, every time. I know that stance puts me at odds with a lot of people here, and so be it. I'm not changing my opinion on that.Willmark wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 5:00 pm At what point does the meaningless few wins we might likely scrape together no be worth it?

Sure I get that. But ultimately it keeps us in this self perpetuating cycle we can't get out of. Add to this the organization seems to be allergic to drafting QBs.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 5:05 pm I firmly believe you play to win every game, every time. Not me; I called a win for us today. Okay, so I was a LITTLE bit off...Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 5:05 pm I firmly believe you play to win every game, every time. I know that stance puts me at odds with a lot of people here, and so be it. I'm not changing my opinion on that.

Nope. I want to win every game, no matter what draft pick is on the line. Other teams manage to find players while winning..... what makes the Raiders any different? That opened up some conversation.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 5:05 pm I firmly believe you play to win every game, every time. We could lose every game and pick first and a team like the jets could pick second. We would select a Ryan Leaf at 1 overall and they would take a Drew Bledsoe at 2. Until the curse is broken nobody and nothing will work. This goes so deep it’s in the soil beneath Allegiant.
