Saints have been playing the QB shuffle game since Breeze left a few years ago. Carr is reliable in the sense he doesn't get hurt and can put up points. Their defense is much better then the Raiders have had in a long time. They may actually win some games in that weak division and have a punchers chance in the playoffs.
Seems like a good fit for Carr and the Saints
I agree on the fit. Perfect in a simple shallow way that Carr is a “Saint”. As long as Carr is never outed as a racist, he should do fine in the city. Though there’s a very good chance we see The Real Derek Carb with the incredible food the city has. Nawlins is warm, has a dome. That should help.
I see Thomas get a bump with his catch radius being a major plus,, that is if his body hasn’t completely failed him. Olave will end up frustrated. Kamara would have an excellent bounce back season due to Carr’s love for the check down. A shame Kamara has to miss 6 games next year, and he is getting up there in age.
If there is any stability, it’s that they will choose 1 QB instead of spending the year cycling through the QB’s on the roster. Having said that , red zone and short yardage will still be going to T. Hill.
My guess, in 3 years we’ll see the ol’ paper bag hats back in the stands.
McDaniels drafted Tebow, then got fired, then John Fox won one playoff game with Tebow.
Maybe my old brain is playing tricks on but i was sure McDaniels wion an odd game with Tebow before being fired) & he has won more playoff games than Carr maybe i could have worded it a bit better
To be fair i was just playing with twotrout since his wording was who has he won with

Yes McD had success with Brady.
Jimmy G had two or three good games as a starter when they won the SuperBowl.
Mac Jones had a decent year as a rookie and they made the playoffs.Great red zone %
Cassell went 11-5 and they somehow missed the playoffs.
Orton had two solid years in Denver..by far his best seasons ever.
Cam was ass and that falls on BB.Not a fit and he was washed.Bad pickup.
Bradford and the team in St.Louis was bad that year.Spagnuolo was the HC and that team was a dumpster fire.He gets a pass from me.
Carr had decent numbers,but sucks.
I don’t think McD is the problem.
I don't think a first is coming our way for Carr but it certainly makes better picks more likely if we eat some 2023 cap space. That's the kind of thing that makes a cap strapped team do something stupid. The NFC South seems like a place that teams might do that, because all the teams know how winnable that division is.
As much as it’s great to have picks this year what I really want is to get picks for next year. That is one of the successes of the Patsies. The Hoodie was constantly flipping picks. While not quite the story of trading the red paper clip for better and better stuff, he did move upwards and down to create value.
He didn’t always hit but he realized two things in doing so:
1. Never fall in love with any one pick, makes it easier to move on when so many other coaches and FOs have the sunk cost fallacy rearing it’s ugly head. Brady is an outlier and even then they did move on from him.
2. By increasing your picks next year it allows you to stay ahead of the other teams who are only concerned about this year.
Can we ever get there? Who knows, I doubt it but the principal is a sound one.

I almost feel teams that can start making moves to stockpile picks in future drafts, have to be established and can forgo some of the current years picks to do so.
I love getting future picks in deals.
The thing with the Saints is they are handicapped if Carr hits FA so i have a feeling that #29 gets offered to beat out any other suitors if Carr likes what they have there
Teams like the Commanders & Jets might well offer up the 2nd we all think he’s worth but the way for the Saints to get there guy is throw out a 1st plus some pick swapping elsewhere
That #29 pick would be a little sweeter being that it came from the Broncos via Niners, if we can draft well then having a divisional rival strengthen us would be bittersweet for them & great for us

Seems like a good fit for Carr and the Saints
Not that good at putting up points, but he can damn sure run up those stats between the 20’s.
What ever you think of McDaniels he won with Tim Tebow also has won one playoff game which is one more than Carr. think about it Tebow was ass & McDaniels won with him
You can add Jimmy G to that mix however short that tenure was
I mean i dont know what point your trying to make but you’re kind of starting to make yourself look a little stupid , 4 examples outside of Brady who McDaniels has varying levels of success with
He’s not just starting. He’s been making himself look stupid for a long time. He’s a pro.

Carr def has issues there but if that Saints defense can be good/great then Carr definitely has a chance at winning.
Looking at the Saints Forums they seem to be negative about the Carr trade. Most mentioned that they hope their only giving up a 3rd/4th pick. I hope we can get a good defensive player in the trade which can help to relieve their cap issues.
