Stock plays for 2026

Unread post by Rabidraider »

Thought I'd throw this out there for anyone who enjoys playing the stock market.

I'm working on taking a position on a company called Archer Aviation. (ARCH)

Electric plane start up with plans for taxis service and sales. The Dolphin owner is a big fan and is setting up a taxis service from his Country club to the Stadium for example.
Sales will be going to the Mideast as well.
Some FAA approvals in the works.
Defense contracts too.

https://archer.com/

Is George Jetson not far behind.

Daughter just offered a new job. They offer a 401k retirement option where it can be either a tax deferred account that you do t touch until retirement or you can pay penalty fees or a Roth IRA that is taxed at today’s rates but tax free when she withdrawals from it whenever she wishes to in the future with no penalty.

I always had a tax deferred account and no other choice and it was a great deal for its own reasons but I was never offered the latter choice.

This company also has its own supplemental employee share option plan as it is entirely employee owned.

She’s 22 and will be asking me my thoughts of which route she should go.

Thoughts?

Go with the Roth. Most people gettting near retirement are transferring their money to Roths and taking a tax hit. With a Roth you have no RMDs when you reach 73. RMD = Required minimum distribution)

You pay tax on the money that goes in, but not the huge profits that grow over all those years.

And all the money you take out is federally tax free. I should of done it myself.

She and her husband are both 22 and have zero debt. I`m pushing her to throw as much as she can starting right now into the roth ira retirement account to get that compound interest snowball started. Debt free, young and both working starts their financial life off with a bang.

Very smart.

And with a Roth no matter how much they take out when they are older their Social Security will not be effected tax wise.

And as for Medicare if their raking in big numbers no Irma increases .

IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount) is an extra surcharge added to your Medicare Part B and Part D premiums if your income is above a certain level.

A normal IRA is taxed as ordinary money, NOT a Roth.

question: how much matching does the company do for the 401k plan and does the company offer any matching funds for the roth ira ...that makes a huge difference on total returns

usually i advise for people in their 20's with no 401k option to start with traditional ira's because of the write off aspect because of large tax burdens on the young, then start to convert the traditional over to a roth in teh 40's when tax write offs are not as needed, for people late to the game always go roth and max it out using catch up provison ,even spouses with no income can still do roths but only half the amount (spousal ira's)

ps as for the share option ...depends on industry ...do you see success 20 yrs down the road is can it fail and disappear

As far as I can tell, they don’t match the 401k option but they fully fund the ESOP benefit by putting in 15% of your salary annually. The employee doesn’t get this benefit until they have 1 year on the books

This is a prominent company in the north Idaho/northeast Wa region
