Can't wait to see him play, the days of no wiggle White are in the past....
Yeah I'm pretty excited to see this guy suit up in Silver & Black. This offense will look a whole lot better with the threat of the big play on the ground which is something that's eluded this team for a long time. As good as Jacobs was he was more of a positive chunk of yards guy than a home run hitter. Jeanty seems like he can do it all.

We obviously can not fix all our warts. We just spent a high pick on Jeanty. I hope we add more to the OL than what we currently have. Could we be pleasantly surprised that our OL exceeds expectations. Sure. However, I want this kid to have EVERY opportunity to be a beast. What better way to help the team than having him dominate and swinging time of possession in our favor. We haven't had that in a long time. Gives us a chance to keep our D off the field (not feeling confident about that side of the ball). Also, when was the last time we were strong in the red zone? I honestly can not remember. We have continuously left a TON of points off the board year in and year out. Jeanty should give us hope.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty will keep his jersey number for his first season in the NFL.
The team on Friday announced number assignments for the rookie class and recent free agent signings. That includes Jeanty wearing No. 2, his number from Boise State.
In conjunction, kicker Daniel Carlson will switch to No. 8, his number from when he first joined the Raiders in 2018.
He wore 8 for two seasons in Oakland before switching to No. 2 when the team relocated to Las Vegas in 2020.

He wasn't the only one to get a prank call after he was drafted.....
Running back Ashton Jeanty told FanSided that he received a prank call that he’d been traded to the Cowboys.

Are you worried about the JaMarcus curse?
I would be lying if I said it didn't cross my mind. But i see a player that looks and acts completely different. I have high hopes for Ashton, I love that he comes from a military family. Cant wait to see what this years team looks like under a veteran coach like PC.

How does everyone feel with Jeanty picking #2 for his jersey?
Daniel Carlson has worn the number since and he actually revived his career with the Raiders. The only similarity between Jamarcus and Jeanty is that they were both 1st round picks..thats about where it ends.

How does everyone feel with Jeanty picking #2 for his jersey?
If he did nothing else, Terrelle Pryor (at least in my mind) rid the Raiders of the "#2 curse" or whatever it was. Pryor, for all his many, MANY faults, was a good guy who worked hard and tried his best. His failure as QB with us was due to a lack of talent, not effort.
When I think of a Raider wearing #2, Pryor is guy who comes to mind, not JaPaycheck.
Respect your points but I disagree with the philosophy of viewing the draft in totality. You can only plan a draft that way through the lens of a mock draft. It becomes infinitely more difficult to predict things when you're not guessing who the 5 guys ahead of your selection will be, and you're trying to figure out who will be there after pick 100. That's why the only rational decision with every draft pick is pick the best guy available. I don't believe the OSU guys are even remotely close to Jeanty. I also think many of the other players selected in the top 10 can and will struggle to impact their teams at the same level Jeanty will for us. Sure you might be able to find a solid RB in a later round, but that's not going to turn Mason Graham into Aaron Donald. Graham will be a good player I like him, don't get me wrong. But there were a few special guys in this class and we got one of them.
Ya, over the last few weeks I’ve definitely warmed up to the pick. I am not a pure BPA guy as you can tell. I am in the sense that I don’t want to draft for need, but I do think draft grades should consider positional value and scarcity.
But even through that lens, I think Jeanty will end up being a good pick. In terms of scarcity, there were very few “could be a HOFer” types in this draft, and Jeanty is one of them. You alluded to the same idea yourself, and I agree.
Aside from the obvious he brings as a player, I also think he’s going to be a tremendous leader and Raider Nation is going to rally behind him. You don’t get that with a short RT. Can’t wait to see what he does on the field, and how he grows as a leader in the clubhouse

Are you worried about the JaMarcus curse?
Carlson has been elite whilst wearing it i think he has broken the curse
Hopefully the best thing about Jeanty is that every time i hear of a No.2 i won’t be thinking of a 6’6 265lb turd that needs flushing
