Carr is "gearing up" for the pro bowl. It is f[raiders_icon]cking flag football for gods sake.
Carr is like the new age version of Jeff George, all the arm talent in the world, lots of meaningless yards in garbage time, but a natural born loser. Remember Gruden came in and dumped George after one season and signed Gannon, Al thought he was crazy for wanting him because Jeff George was on another planet compared to Rich Gannon as far as talent. Maybe Stidham can be our new version of Gannon.
You know, this would not completely surprise me one bit.
You know, this would not completely surprise me one bit.
Throughout all the turmoil, I said it should be Stiddy's job to loose and some poster got his parties in a bunch. This guy is a viable option as a one year starter. He will infuse this team with competitive juices and buy us some time moving forward as opposed to what a Rodgers or Brady would do, which is make us feel like we have arrived when we haven't. The other thing he will do is make a rookie WORK to beat him out in due time. Stiddy isn't going to lay down, and on the flip side he isn't going to act like he's untouchable. The age is right and the fit is tight.

If Carr ends up a Buc, they gotta bring back the creamsicle unis and that swishbuckling musketeer helmet. Perfection.

The QB who loses will be the backup. Also, Stidham takes some big hits, not sure if he will be able to survive a full season. This is why I voted for Mac Jones if he is available. To my mind, he is less injury prone than Jimmy G, plus will cost less in terms of pure cap no.

If you are Derek Carr, on any other team, you have to work at your craft. Not sit around playing video games. But because he was on our team, they did not give him any real competition and that allowed him to be comfortable. He could play video games, he could prepare sermons and practice his side hustle. We were the victims of our own delusions by not recognizing that he was coasting quite often.

I still think the possibility exists that Carr gets cut, hits the open market and finds out he's not worth nearly as much as he thinks he is, and decides to hang it up. I'll believe someone is willing to take on that contract when I see it.

Edit: this is not actually Carr's account (or probably not - I can't say for sure it's not Carr or his bros)

https://twitter.com/CarrBurner/status/1 ... 9864306688
Actually it would not surprise me one bit if carr went to another team and had a very good to great year. Just like he did in 2016, His one decent year. When his motivation was $$$$$$$$$$ big money! We all know he has the tools to be very, very good. What he lacks is the heart, guts and motivation. But now he's 'butthurt' about everyone questioning him and so that could lead him to play like he did in 2016. As I said it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Of course that could change if he gets really drilled hard once or twice, then the pain would probably jar him back to "What the f[raiders_icon]ck am I doing this for, I've already fleeced this league for mega dollars, time to mail it in!"

I hope he lights it up in the pro bowl and stays healthy.

Derek playing in the "pro bowl" I think is great. No pressure, easier than a 7 on 7. He has God given talent to throw the ball and I think he'll do well. Get the GM's of 4 or 5 teams really thinking hard about it. I'm thinking it's the Bucs or the Panthers. Maybe the Saints or Patriots. He very well might play solid for another team. But the Raiders are better off without him. It's a win win separation in my opinion.

Bring Stidham back, a cheaper vet like a Brissett, and draft a guy or even two with Garbers. Make it a real competition that's cheap. Build the defense and oline with that cap space and picks. Get back to Raider ball. Good defense, good power ground game and talent all over at skill positions. Make the O and D line hellacious. Get some corners, a safety and a couple linebackers. Get a guard, right tackle and a RB/TE if Jacobs or Moreau leave. Pick best player available each round regardless, with a focus on defense. Draft guys who are dawgs with a good mind of the game. I don't wanna see those stupid ass players making caveman mistakes like the Raiders of the last 35 years. That type of play got the Bengals tossed from another super bowl try. The oline played much better than what they were payed. That coach is solid I just can't recall his name. McDaniels system works. He had Mac Jones playing well with half the offensive talent the Raiders have

It should be options after options. Unless they trade for a big name or trade up in the draft, this next year's QB should not even named until well into camp or preseason.

Would it be nice if we had the guy on our roster who is going to be the next Brady? Would absolutely love that. But even when Brady was named the starter it was not a sure thing. The legend of Brady took a couple years. If Stidham is the guy, he should welcome the competition to push him to elevate. I for one want a full off season program with more than a couple guys.
