With just average QB play, we probably win that game by 30, I'm not even kidding. We would have buried Chicago with just about any other QB playing.Attyla wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 3:09 am The ironic part of this to me is he threw three picks and for 117 yards and we still almost won the game.

The problem is far bigger than Geno IMO.
Geno is the symptom of a dysfunctional organization that has never placed emphasis on solving the most critical position in just football but in all of sports.
The Raiders have attempted to solve this with nothing more than stopgaps and bandaids. Or at best stick with Boy Wonder for no discernible reason across multiple regimes.
That’s why we are in the state we are.
The problem is we’ve never been bad enough to snag a high enough QB pick. Hard to do when you’re picking somewhere between 8th and 15th on average and adverse to trading up.
Then compound this with we’ve built the offense in opposite to the way to do it. We’ve added some very good skill players but no QB to utilize them. And it’s not like this is a new phenomenon. We did the same thing with Carr.
Until QB is settled we’re just wasting our time as a franchise and fans.
2025 is likely a lost season. The silver lining (if we can call it that) is that looking ahead there won’t be as many teams needing QBs likely ahead of us. As it stands right now the Jets will be the other team looking to go QB. Maybe Indy, Cards or Panthers with a bunch of qualifiers if they do.
Question is will the Raiders actually do it.

During the Gruden years we passed on Lamar Jackson, Jordan Love and Jalen Hurts. During the McDaniels era we could have signed Baker Mayfield. This year we had the opportunity to sign Darnold.Willmark wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 6:08 am The problem is far bigger than Geno IMO.

Let’s be real…draft any of those three, they’d be toast. The Raiduhs don’t have the infrastructure that would make them successful. I’d venture to guess Burrow and/or Herbert would flame out in Vegas.Corleone wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 6:14 am During the Gruden years we passed on Lamar Jackson, Jordan Love and Jalen Hurts. Will they draft a QB in what is shaping up to be a very bad QB class ? and yes it is going to be a bad classWillmark wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 6:08 am

Bad draft class doesn’t matter because you’re not drafting a class, you’re only drafting one guy. Mahomes and Watson were seen as in a bad draft class by way of example.rcraider wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 6:32 am Will they draft a QB in what is shaping up to be a very bad QB class ? and yes it is going to be a bad class
The issue becomes is trying to make a round peg fit in a square hole.
The Raiders have constrains on who they will draft, not because of who they might draft, but because who we won’t or shouldn’t. We don’t have time, especially our coach. That’s means no to anyone remotely a project.
There is a timer for our skill positions too, we’re going to have to pay them or they are leaving, that narrows the options as well.

As an organization the Raiders seem to have an allergy when it comes to drafting QBs. Missing in the FA ones we should bring in more organizational disfunction IMO.
But here’s the thing: drafting matters far more than anything else when it comes to QB if for no other reason than the inflation of their second contract. The rookie deals are manageable, afterwards far tougher.
Or put another way: we’ve never been able to take advantage of cheap rookie QB deals because we’ve never had one, or at best in 2014.

Is it true that Spytek, and even Carroll wanted Darnold? But they were overruled by Brady. Or Brady rather Geno so thats the way they went...Corleone wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 6:14 am During the Gruden years we passed on Lamar Jackson, Jordan Love and Jalen Hurts. I was livid when they wasted a 3rd on Smith instead of taking Darnold and angrier when they gave him an extension they didn't need to. What was Geno going to do? Sit out....Make him earn it...

None of this is Kelly's fault. He can't save a QB from making stupid, real time decisions. We don't have another viable QB on the roster either. Also, he didn't build this O-line; the last regime did, and they were working off the remnants of the regime before that.rich72 wrote: Mon Sep 29, 2025 4:58 pm Chip Kelly is to blame also, hes the architect of this shitshow.
Old Man River assembled a solid staff, but it's going to take time to build. They're cleaning up the mistakes of both McDickhead and AP. It's not easy work. And Geno might be the guy we want no matter how bad he is because it allows us to draft a QB, have him sit behind the master of disaster, and then take over halfway through the next season. Hopefully.

So none of the offensive failures and Geno f[raiders_icon]cking up is Kelly's fault ?Opoponax50 wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 8:09 am None of this is Kelly's fault. Kelly has been pure crap. It's Kelly's job to design an offense that gets the most out of his players abilities. It's also Kelly's job to make sure that the plays are executed properly and mistakes and turnovers minimized as much as possible.
How'd you like the 3rd and 4th down play calls in the 1st quarter against the Bears ?
Kelly watches the 3rd down QB sneak get absolutely blown up. Meredith destroyed.
Now, putting aside whether Pete should have gone for it on 4th and a long one.....how the f[raiders_icon]ck do you call that goddamn run up the gut that's been getting annihilated for the entire season thus far ????
Jeanty was crushed almost before he got the handoff.
At least it wasn't out of the shot gun. LMAO.
None of that is Kelly's fault though, eh ?
Bet you loved the 1st and 2nd down play calls inside the Bear 10 when were up by 2 points and a TD would have iced the game. Those two shotgun runs were real beauties.
Geno missing Thornton on the subsequent 3rd down wasn't Kelly's fault - but a lot of crap that's gone on offensively this year most definitely has been.
Highest paid OC in the NFL and we're consistently running unimaginative runs up the gut into 8 man boxes with an undersized Meredith and weak ass Parham....and that's not on Chip ?

No, but he can better game plan to Geno's strength's and weaknesses. Maybe he needs to simply things. I dunno, I am not in the QB room.Opoponax50 wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 8:09 am None of this is Kelly's fault. He can't save a QB from making stupid, real time decisions. Kelly can't completely coach the stooooopid out of Geno anymore than Gruden could ever coach the pussy out of Carr.....but it's ridiculous to say that 'none of this is Kelly's fault'.

When you have shit to work with, you get shit results. A coach can only do so much. At some point it's up to the players to performRAIDERMAN818 wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 9:14 am So none of the offensive failures and Geno fcking up is Kelly's fault ?
