Yeah... remember when Derek was playing a shitty game and proceeded to eyeroll his coach on the sideline? Remember when he publicly disputed his coach over a fkn hail Mary? He doesn't think he needs any coaching. He thinks he's practically perfect in every way. It's ABOUT TIME somebody called out his stupid ass. He can go cry to mama all he wants.
I remember Ditka absolutely going off on Harbaugh on the sidelines in front of all planet earth. Did he cry like a bitch? Just confirms what some of us have known all along. Derek is soft as they come, and, to quote Rainman, the biggest pussy to ever don the silver and black. McDaniels has scored some points with me here.
And don't forget near the end of the JDR era he proclaimed he was gonna play QB as he saw fit. That was the nail in the coffin for me, back in 2017.
I agree.I’d like for him to have a press conference and discuss this.I think we have a couple good young guys, let them build this.we need some damn stability.
Or at least just get with Zig and JMD and back them. I mean after this article (assuming it is true) it is evident that there is now a whole (REAL) culture change going on with this team. Like it or not, the QB is the leader of the team -- especially one that has been there 9 years, through multiple Coaching ,GM and personnel changes. His personality and his way of doing things permeates through the locker room and to other players -- like it or not.
This part of the culture has now been removed. You are essentially starting over and instilling this new philosophy into your team. Sounds like there is already buy in which is good. However, Davis has to get behind this 100%. Don't force these guys to sign Brady or Jimmy G (if they don't think its best) just to eek out some increased win total to keep their jobs.
Sounds to me like the culture of "Have some fun, put up some empty stats on paper so they can't place blame on me right away, and everything else is icing on the cake" philosophy will be flushed from this team. Now go find the guys that fit the new culture.
You’ve never watched film with the team the Monday after a game, have you? It’s part learning experience part roast. The players all give each other shit. “I bet you blew some snot bubbles on that hit!” “What kind of block was that man! You tryin’ to get me killed?” Coaches will roast a little bit too but they’re more focused on the learning aspect obviously.
It doesn’t sounds like Carr was treated differently than anyone else. A player that too sensitive to take some criticism and roasting won’t sit well with the boys either. It’s a man’s game and it seems Carr isn’t man enough for it.
Yes.. You sometimes even hear announcers on TV after replays -- during College AND Pro games - make reference to something like: "Man... He's going to take a ribbing from his teammates when that shows up in film session tomorrow", etc.

I'm not sure how much of Hondo's story is real or just presumed, but one thing that shouldn't be lost is that the QB is the most key player on the team and so he's a focal point in film review too. Just like he's a focal point in forum discussion. I'm sure he also hears "good read, good throw" too, but it could be that all he remembers are the negatives. How do you fix the negatives if you never talk about them?
I know I post "great throw" or "nice pocket movement" in the game day thread when he does it well, but I'm sure lots of believers in Carr don't remember that and focus on my hating. It may be human nature, but it's not what makes great QBs. A great QB looks at the play where he hit a guy for a 5 yard gain and a first down and sees that he could have had a 40 yard TD instead.
Not gonna debate your views on what I shared. Just gonna share one of a few books I’ve read:
A book suggestion: leadership strategy and tactics by former navy seal Jocko Wilink.
I have read the book. It is all about accountability, being a professional, looking at things from different angles. Not one word in it about coddling man babies.
I was never in the SEALs but I did go to sniper school, rangers school , air assault school, airborne school, and e&e training, plus earned my expert infantry badge and combat infantry badge. There was no coddling, no pats on the back for doing your job. Its what was expected as a base line. If you couldn't do it, we sent your ass to HQ to do paper work.
One thing to understand SEALs, Ranger battalion, Army special forces are all called SOF. Special operations force. You dont just go. You are vetted by your unit then a pre-course, then you go to the course. There isnt a lot of yelling and screaming from instructors in these courses (compared to basic amd AIT). You are simply a go or a no-go. If you cant do the job you are being asked to do, you are gone, period. No handshake, no "you'll do better next time". So by the time you get to the course , you already have that mentality.
The nfl has turned in to a kindergarten for man babies. Not all, but many players think the coach is supposed to be like their daddy, or fun uncle. The game and work environment is supppsed to be fun. Its a professional business. Not a daycare for wayward boys. The fun comes when you win. Until you are doing that consistently, it should be nose to the grind stone.
Now of course, you shouldn't run every business this way, but this is a mans game for men. It takes violence of action, dedication, hard work, and desire to be great.
When I am leading Susie from accounting I am a much different leader than I am leading a team of men to do violent things.

Luckily, Lil Derek tuned out my noise.

Lot of pages here, so maybe I have missed this. At this point, why would any team need to trade for Carr at this point? Carr has to sign off on the deal regardless...if he is open to the team wants to trade for him, why wouldn't he just wait to get released and then sign with them? That allows his new team not to have to trade any assets. Is the reason a trade is in play that Carr's contract would pay him a little more than the open market and therefore keeping the contract in place is in his best interest?
Any ideas?

Meh...my brother (who is a cowboy fan) asked me a couple weeks ago why I continue to be a fan of this dumpster fire of a team. Of course I reminded him of the cowboys last 20 years. I will always be a fan of the team over any player....but I am also an "once a Raider always a Raider" guy so I dont believe in how Carr has been treated on his way out. Not his fault he signed contracts he was offered or that ultimately it has been our inability to draft, and overpaying FA's, that has resulted in a lack of talent and depth....and the worst defense in the league over the last decade.
That being said...the constant belittling does get old and has contributed to my less frequent visits. I agree it was time to move on....just dont agree with kicking a dead horse on the way out the door.

Wasn't sure if I was really missing something. If Carr thinks he can get more on the open market than his current deal then no trade will happen.
At the time people weren't telling the truth about Carr. Now they are. There also more years of sustained poor play.
Yes but still, these are offense guys who have been around the block a few times. They saw all the tape, did their homework, and came to the same conclusions, they could win with Carr. Not endorsing Carr, just saying that it's very possible that others will come to the same conclusion.

Is it your belief that we should have risked decimating our '23 cap during the last two games just to add a little more red carpet treatment for Derek?
The dead horse would have been this team if he was injured. It is a business after all.
If it is just people being mean to him in social media that you did not care for, no worries, he got that while he was still here too.

If this was the offseason after 2020, I would agree with your sentiment. We should have sold high. The rest of the league is witnessing this incredible young QB turnover taking place. The Brees's. Ryans, Bradys, Rogers, Tannehills and Wilsons of the world are either retired, nearly retired or demonstrating that they can no longer get it done.
