You know what sucks is you have a way on making me (probably others to) hate on a player that I'm not really trying to, but you white knight certain players to the hilt and we'll I'm much more flexible and reasonable to nuance.
This part of your statement would have some validity if not for the fact that you were quoted as thinking he was drafted too high day 1. You, like others, are looking for any reason to discredit him in order to validate your pre-judgement. A common trait in NPD, but everyone who has this trait doesn't have clinical NPD.
Also, I'm not white knighting Jeanty. He's a good player who has potential to be great, and he plays for the Raiders. He's our first-round pick and never played for any other team. Why wouldn't I support him?
When people state things that I interpret as bias or false, I'm going to confront them. I'm the same way in real life.
So yeah here I'll say it: Jeanty hurt or not, he's playing, no excuse. He needs to run the rock better! Line has to block better to. It's a combo for sure.
I agree, it's a combination of being hurt and the line. Watching film, I've had some vision critiques of Jeanty (as someone who never made it to the NFL), but I've had just as many of Washington.
We have a small sample size. All I can logically do is go by when Jeanty was healthy, and he played at an elite level by my estimation. The Chargers game, both RBs got stuffed, and Washington looked worse-- there's a reason why he got a carry reduction for two games.
The narrative that Washington is just balls out better is false. If Washington wanted to definitively prove that he would have gone off against the Chargers. If he had done that, I'd be the FIRST person to admit I was wrong and Washington may be equal or potentially better than Jeanty.
But he didn't. So now I'm looking to the Chiefs game to affirm my assessment of him.
Being 31rst in average per run sucks. This currently is the team weakness as everywhere else were doing surprising well or well enough.
I can agree with that. We need to establish the run to make Kirk's job easier.
WR catching would be the other, but as an overall catching unit we are ok. Can you argue that? You probably can.
I'd say it has more to do with Kirk playing out of his mind right now. If not for a WR slipping, Kirk hasn't made a mistake in two games. He's having a Rich Gannon-like run, and it's not hyperbole. I don't know if he can sustain it, but we're seeing the best version of Kirk Cousins right now.
That, and Brock Bowers got healthy just in the nick of time.
So while you try to make me hate on a player, I see hate in your own way, you already have predetermined the answer can't be Washington and to me there isn't a reasonable sample size to make a conclusion. I haven't really even concluded anything yet with Ashton.
Eh, I'd say it has more to do with I haven't seen anything from Washington yet that would justify the hype that he's getting. The best version of Jeanty can safely be proclaimed as one of the best RBs in the NFL. I loved Washington's touchdown run, he put some juice back into our team when we needed it, but I'd hold off a bit on the RB1 talk until I see him do it against a team that knows who they are.
I hope Spytek has had this conversation with his son, Jeanty wasn't a no brainer pick and I hope the youngster learns from this.
In Jeanty's class, there aren't many players drafted before or after him that you could argue are objectively better. Jeanty is only in his second year, and we're 3-0 with him. Don't know how you could explain how much better we'd be without him. There's nothing higher than undefeated.
