Mandatory Mini Camp June 9th-June 11th
May 18, 20-21, 26, and 28-29, followed by a final session on June 1-4.
These workouts are held at the Intermountain Health Performance Center in Henderson, Nevada.
They serve as the voluntary Phase 3 of the team's offseason program, where 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted without live contact.
Following OTAs, the Raiders are scheduled to hold their mandatory minicamp from June 6-11.

It's also reality that he is essentially still a rookie in development terms because of the awful coaching last season. We don't really know more about him than we did a year ago when he was drafted and he was raw and needed development and was more likely to be nothing than something. That's what you get with a toolsy WR in the 4th round.

Agreed. It will be interesting to see what Kubiak etc think of him. It does seem way too early to give up now. Maybe they won't even be sure for awhile. But they didnt draft him and might just identify what they think are better options to go with now. Likely he gets at least 1 more year based on how elite his measurables are. If he does get sent to the PS, im sure he'll be claimed by someone else based on that alone and they know it. They also may observe and think he's not close enough to salvageable. Doubtful but possible. He'sa guy you really hope can get on track relatively soon because of the athletic upside. Pulling for him, just not very optimistic.chucker wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 6:06 am There's a chance that Thornton develops into a real NFL WR. It's too soon to evaluate nearly any players drafted in the past few years.powski wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 3:29 pm He's still young (23) and raw but he just doesn't seem very good at football. That could change but not real soon if ever.
Due to his size and speed he should get more leeway but hopefully these coaches can figure out whether he's worth being patient with or not before final roster cuts.
Good coaches get the most out of average players. They're able to identify the player's strengths, minimize weaknesses, find the right spots for them, and call the right plays at the right time to take advantage of the player's best skills.
It's the foundation of a winning team because most guys on the field are average players.

Given his lack of production and what Ive seen i dont think Thornton becomes a great or even good wide receiver. But its too early to write him off as a situational player who could stick on a roster.

I don't see it either. If he gets it then great. But I could also see a scenario where they just cut baitDanKD wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 10:09 am Given his lack of production and what Ive seen i dont think Thornton becomes a great or even good wide receiver. Af 6'5 205 with a 4.3 40 and a limited route tree, Thornton is a deep decoy at best right now imo.
We'll see if he can build his tree. Maybe hes a skinny post guy? Idk. In the 1st OTA I read he put on some muscle but again. Who knows.
At any rate he's not going to see the field in 12, 13 or 22 personnel.
And now hes gimping around.
The road looks long for him but i'm in his corner until he's out.

I agree that a 3 would be a blessing to get out of him. Returning I'm not sure it's in his bag. But I would definitely have him out there practicing fielding kicksmstrbass2000 wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 11:10 am teh raiders would be lucky to get a wr3 outta thorton, i wonder what he would look like returning punts or kicks 4.3 is fast if he gets a seem he is gone

Actually Spytek DID draft him. We just don't know how much influence Carroll had in the pick, though I would think if it was Carroll pushing Thorton would've played more.powski wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 9:13 am Agreed. Thornton ran with the starters all offseason and began as afocus of the offense while Bech got nothing. Its obvious when he got in the game bech was a better player than Thornton. I would not be surprised if Thornton was a Carroll pick while he dreamed of MetcalfRickRyb wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 1:23 pm Actually Spytek DID draft him. At least we havent had any major injuries so far this offseason (knock on wood). Some teams have already lost players they just gave big contracts to. In my opinion injuries play a huge part in how well a team does each season, last season we were riddled with them from the beginning.
