Klint Kubiak - Officially Head Coach

Unread post by JRaider17 »

Figured it is best to start a new official thread around Kubiak being our HC as the other one was built up so much around the search. His introduction presser is at 11 PST today.

It’s been difficult to get excited as a Raiders fan for quite a while. However, they have made an exciting hire at HC and we have the first overall pick that should turn into a really talented quarterback. I hope that this isn’t another false dawn and instead a bright new era of Raiders football - because boy do we need it to be the latter, we’ve suffered and endured enough!

Someone Kubiak is familiar with and has HC experience. Seems like a solid hire

As a young first time HC, we need someone on staff with previous HC experience that Kubiak is comfortable leaning on for support.

In McCoy, we have someone who was a HC for 4 seasons and someone Kubiak has worked with before. McCoy is 53yo and has a ton of league experience. Not sure how many better options were available but I think it was a good idea to bring him in.

Shits’n’giggles FYI. Our new Senior Assistant to our new Head Coach is 20.6 years younger than last year’s Head Coach.

He provides a guy who knows the day to day experience stuff that frees up Kubiak to do the big picture stuff

Ah a CEO. First no problem with this hire, like how am I supposed to know if this is good or not?

I'm paying Kubiak for long days with his own two hands with his mind to design and his grit to teach, to get this team strong and committed.

Brady is big picture stuff to me.

Kubiak is the guy…McCoy was HIS choice…don’t we all think Kubiak knows what he needs most or what best helps him? He’s not going to make a hire that he doesn’t think helps. It was his pick..he knows what he needs to succeed better than me haha.

I suspect that Kubiak will be a very hands-on head coach. He'll still need to delegate and he'll need guys he trusts to execute when he's otherwise occupied - head coaches have to spread themselves thinner than when they were coordinators who could devote themselves to one side of the ball. I suspect he'd view it as being similar to how Mike Mcdonald used Leslie Frazier - Assistant Head Coach of the Seahawks. They won the Super Bowl with this structure a few days ago.

As a poster above stated, he reads this and with that he's adjusted.

But to me it's a lot of weird ole man drama.
Maxx is a slow learner. Keeping the sore open would be the best way to prevent a relapse.

Hey All, Saints fan here, when we were looking for an OC KK was my 1st choice. So I'll be pulling for LV as an alternative team to root for. I think you've got a good shot for him to turn the team around. While KK is VERY soft spoken, he knows exactly what he wants to do. His practices are very structured and detailed. His system is very QB and OL-friendly, Kamara was on pace to have one of his best yrs under KK, expect to see a big improvement from Jeanty and the OL, especially if he brings Benton and Dennison with him. If you want to see what you'll be getting, go watch the 1st few Saints games of 24. He likes to run the ball to set up shot plays. Had we not been decimated by injuries on offense in 24 KK would have had us easily winning the division that yr. We probably would not have fired Allen but he needed to go anyway.

I was disappointed we didn't consider KK for our HC vacancy , but I'm happy we hired Kellen Moore. Kubiak's choice for DC will be VERY important. I think he should go after Schwartz. KK needs an enforcer since he's quite soft spoken. I'll be keeping an eye on the Raiders this coming season due to the Kubiak connection so good luck

Succeed or fail, it was the right approach hiring a young, innovative offensive minded coach. He has the best shot at getting this franchise headed in the right direction in decades.
So sick and tired of hiring head coaches to multiple year deals every year.

What was the injury situation like that year? What was the timeline of the injuries? I recall the Saints lit up the Panthers & then the Cowboys. After that I'm not sure but I do know there was an onslaught of injuries. Welcome & thank you for the respect and decency!
