Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?
Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.
At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

I wonder if Davis will allow it after the Mack backlash. I think if it was up to Brady and company they would trade him for sure since we need a complete rebuild. At 28 years old there’s still meat on the bone with Maxx, I’d want 2 1s considering they will be bottom round 1s.

I believe it’s only around 5 mil this year and next year in dead money if traded correct? While saving 30+ mil on the cap? Factor that in with 2 1s and it’s probably the way to go. We would have to have the most cap next year or close to it.

Good thing you guys aint running the team. You'd rather hold this team hostage and let him rot here if someone offers a 1st and a 2nd? Ridiculous.

They’re gonna screw up this team so might as well give Maxx a shot at a superbowl

2023
Montez Sweat
Acquired by: Chicago Bears
Traded by: Washington Commanders
Compensation: A 2024 second-round pick
Details: Chicago immediately signed the 27-year-old to a four-year, $98 million extension after the trade, locking up a key pass rusher for the future.
2022
Bradley Chubb
Acquired by: Miami Dolphins
Traded by: Denver Broncos
Compensation: A 2023 first-round pick, a 2024 fourth-round pick, and running back Chase Edmonds.
Details: The Dolphins promptly signed Chubb to a five-year, $110 million extension. Miami made the move for an edge rusher after an uncharacteristically slow start to their pass rush that season.
Robert Quinn
Acquired by: Philadelphia Eagles
Traded by: Chicago Bears
Compensation: A 2023 fourth-round pick.
Details: Quinn was coming off a career-high 18.5-sack season in 2021 before being traded mid-season. The Bears also agreed to pay a large portion of his remaining salary.
Khalil Mack
Acquired by: Los Angeles Chargers
Traded by: Chicago Bears
Compensation: A 2022 second-round pick and a 2023 sixth-round pick.
Details: The Bears made this trade to clear cap space and acquire draft capital. Mack, coming off an injury-shortened season, was reunited with Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, his former linebackers coach in Chicago.
2021
Von Miller
Acquired by: Los Angeles Rams
Traded by: Denver Broncos
Compensation: Second- and third-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Details: This blockbuster deal was made in the middle of the 2021 season as the Rams went "all in" for a Super Bowl push. Miller, a future Hall of Famer, helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI that season.
2020
Yannick Ngakoue
Acquired by: Baltimore Ravens
Traded by: Minnesota Vikings
Compensation: A 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 fifth-round pick.
Details: In a rare mid-season flip, the Vikings traded Ngakoue just six games after acquiring him from the Jaguars. The Ravens reunited him with his former Jaguars teammate Calais Campbell.

Also, the Raiders can't be greedy. There is zero point to keeping Maxx on this team and if you don't believe other teams know that, then you aren't paying attention.

Of those guys, let's see.
Von was 31 years old I believe and in the last year of his contract
Ngakoue is a one dimensional player, was bitching on line about the team and he got tagged and hated it. He even picked a fight with the team owner's son on line. That was why the Jags traded him. The Vikes just traded him for essentially what they gave up for him. He was pretty lackluster his final couple years with the Jags and MIN got more of the lackluster version. Hell, we gave up on him and he had a decent year with us.
Mack was also very old and was coming off major season ending foot injury
Not as in tune with Sweat and also in the last year of his rookie deal. I want to say he had not lived up to the hype around him, but I would be guessing on that
Chubb I know did not live up to the hype and he had trouble staying on the field.
Quinn was 34 years old? And he is another that was hit and miss, both with productivity and being able to stay on the field.
Von to me you can make a case for that, but the contract issue is why he got moved at a discount. Not saying the list is wrong, but to a man there were reasons beyond the obvious for why they got moved for a decent price tag.
Not wanting to start an argument, just saying there were lots of reasons why they went for less and there are lots of reasons we should try to get a shitload more for Maxx

The guy asked for premier pass rushers and that's what I gave him. Are there variables involved? Sure. But like I said, the Raiders can not be greedy here. Trying to get a shitload more for Maxx vs actually doing it are 2 different things. All I'm saying is I would not hold this team hostage if another team came offering a 1st & 2nd or 1st & conditional 3rd. Maxx has literally zero value on this team right now.Attyla wrote: Tue Oct 21, 2025 11:48 am Of those guys, let's see.

Cowboys just traded their star DE. Why would they give up that trade compensation for Maxx? Only thing I can think of is contract numbers working better for Cowboys.
