I was a rack jobber. Ever heard of the term? Anyone here who ever went into a store to buy music, software , books, videos, I'm the schlub who ordered it and put it out for you to buy.
Always hated the music awards because they always gave thanks to everyone but us jobbers. It did have its benefits at times though. Record labels gave out free music and tickets. During our yearly sales meetings they would load us up and bring in new artists to entertain us. Spent 25 years roading it in the upper midwest. Never unpacked my suitcase. Town to town, hotels to hotel.

Spent about 10 years in stage but local dive bars and such. Definitely not great. Thought i was a pretty decent singer. Until i met my wife. Who was trained on everything from opera to screamo. Honestly now i have a complex about my voice and really don't want to sing in public anymore. Lol

Worked as a lighting director for a cover band in Wisconsin. Played bass with them in 1988 for about a year but arthritis and a relationship put an end to that. Stayed with them behind the light board and later as their road manager until 2001. They're still at it.
Went pro in 1995 working with IATSE Local 470. First show was Blues Traveler that thanksgiving weekend. Did that until 2005 when I moved to NoCal. Moved here in 2011 and hooked up with the facilities maintenance people at the MSU fieldhouse and worked touring productions there until covid shut it down. They're back now of course but I'm getting too old for 14 hour days that start and end with loading trucks. Last show was Bob Seger on his retirement tour.
Worked for a lot of cool bands-way too many to list. And met a lot of cool people along the way. And as things would have it there are two women living in this apartment building (nine units) that do hair & makeup for movie productions that film here. One's an old hand at it and she's currently on set in LA until July.
Wouldn't trade the experience for the world.
(and for those who don't remember or never knew-the current FT gig is Gibson Acoustic of Bozeman-I glue the bridges on them)
