He is the smartest football mind wr have had for a long time. The culture of this team isn't strong enough to withstand a person that hasn't been a coach. Hopefully he gets us back to playoffs and gets this team on a good path and then we can get a new offensive minded coach. Now who do you think he wants as our QB?
If history repeats itself and we don't trade up for what is now currently perceived as 1 of the top 2 then he may snag a QB staying at #6, trade up back into round 1 or draft one top of round 2?

Still a long way's to go before the draft and before we get an idea of where teams generally view guy's draft wise...

I am fine with him as long as he has the stomach for a rebuild (and potentially a bad year or 2). We are way behind the other teams in our division which does not bode well for us. Hopefully a "what if" was talked about during his interview. We desperately need for him to be here for the remainder of his contract.

Never thought I’d be happy with a hire from the seniors home but I’m fine with it. We’re not in a place right now to attract the A list young guys and Carroll is the perfect kind of guy to lead us there. He’ll have the players respect and they’ll play hard for him.

Really pleased with this!

A presence in the locker room that will command respect and a hugely decorated HC who will also make attracting other coaches to the Raiders an appealing proposition.

Really looking forward to seeing how the dynamic with Spytek, Carroll and Brady works out but wow, look at the caliber of coaches in the AFC West with Carroll, Harbaugh, Payton and Reid!

Yes he's 73 and longevity is naturally a concern but i'm positive we can put in place the foundations for future success which has started with Carroll and Spytek.

This is a win...Spytek with Carroll, big win! Carroll is a proven coach and winner. When was the last time we had something like this? Gruden 1.0 proved it over a couple of years. Grudens second one, I wouldn't count because the jury was still out. So really it would have been Tom Flores ......think about that for a moment and let it sink in!

Oh, and....damn, I'm old!

Now, I'm happy we finally look to be returning to the PROS!

Best and most respected coach we have had in the 21 century.
He is the only guy avalible that can hang with the likes of Reid, Harbaugh, and Peyton.
He builds a very strong lockerrom, and his players play jard for him.
The defense will be big, smart and hard hitting.
I dont know if Pete will be successful here, being the Raiders
are the Raiders, but he gives us the best shot to build a smart, tough, competitive team the fastest.
The players are going to love him.
I think it is a great hire for where we are at right now.

Love this hire. Pete has a ton of success, and will fix the toxic locker room we've got brewing in no time. He's the antithesis of Pierce in every way, an experienced leader with success and respect around the league. A fantastic motivator that doesn't have to stoop to phony gimmicks to inspire his players, he will have these guys believing in themselves.

Very interested in the coordinator hires. But at least we got this out of the way in time for the Senior Bowl so that Spytech can begin focusing on the draft

One thing I love about this hire....

If we are on the 1 yard line with a chance to win the Super Bowl, Pete will absolutely override any dumb decision to pass that could be in the OC's mind....

Right?

......

One question though, what is the game of "jard" you talk about? Does it help NFL players become winners?!
