Plus it keeps him away from Dallas

...and when he got booted for the spitting incident, I think that was just one more public instance, and I am sure there are plenty more that we haven't seen, that make his a potential piece they would move, if necessary. before waiting to see where the continued path to trd- dom ends.

I'm kind of in the same boat. Carter the player immediately raises my heart rate. But then my mind turns on and tells me to put things into context. The only thing I can think of is that Maxx really doesn't want to deal with a system change and Carter would be happy to deal with it to live in Vegas as opposed to Philly.

It's an odd development. I thought we'd be looking at AJ Brown + a 1st and then some if Philly was interested. Swapping DL for DL is odd, and makes me wonder what the catch might be. It might be that Philly is sick of Carter's antics.

If they feel it was a mistake to draft him, offer them Wilson.

I think the Raiders will be very wary after the Wilkins fiasco. Character matters a lot in Las Vegas.

I do not like Carter as he is a piece of shit. There is no denying his talent, but he is the last person the Raiders should want. I would add, there are GM's in all sports that you should never deal with (or risk getting your pants pulled down). Roseman is one of those guys (like Presti in basketball). Stay far away Raiders.

If we get a player in a trade we need to make sure that it's someone who can function in Vegas. Not all players are a good fit here.

I'm still hoping we can convince Maxx to say but the odds dont' look good.

But does Carter like to play "Don't drop the soap" in the showers like Wilkins does? He's a different kind of degenerate

the obvious would be that if this is the time where we finally feel we have a chance to 'change the culture' and with the #1 pick, an actually legitimate, potential franchise QB to use it on, along with many other pieces and cap money to help to get it on its way, and a hot young coach who has assembled a respectable team to get it all off on the right foot, why the hell would we sabotage that right out of the gate by bringing in a known turd like this guy, and with, as others have said, a guy who apparently if available, and with a guy on the other end of it who has a history of making chumps out of his trading partners.
...this really doesn't seem especially tricky to me, at all.

I don't buy a lot of the rumors of trade compensation - I think there's a fair bit of creative license being used, and not just with respect to the Crosby rumors. I also don't love the idea of trading with Howie Roseman - you usually lose.

The one logical reason for them to be willing to move on from Carter is to get some value in return and because they have to pay both Carter and Jordan Davis soon. Davis got a heavy share of snaps for the first time last season when Carter missed games and Davis proved he can handle the workload. They may decide to just pay one guy and move on from the risk of Carter being a potential suspension in waiting.

So again I ask you, are you going to disagree with them when that happens?
I don't usually answer questions like this because it assumes I know the entire situation. I obviously do not. But I will say, I was told this would happen by noon yesterday and I was told this would happen this week. Shefter has shot down a lot of these rumors and Shefter is about as dead on right as anyone in the business. Now obviously, he is not full proof, so I will say to the question, it depends. I was not happy about the Mack trade for sure. I was not thrilled letting Josh walk. I certainly was not happy with the Gruden hire. Those were reactions to what happened, not what might happen. For what it is worth, reacting to what might happen is a study in futility.

chucker wrote: Fri Mar 06, 2026 6:56 am When I hear about draft pick compensation I look back at prior drafts to see what players were actually taken at the particular draft slot(s) in question. I know that not every draft is the same and this year's is a bit weaker in the first round than some others - but I've also heard that about other drafts that turned out ok. Looking back at prior drafts takes into account that you're taking the bad with the good of the draft in an evaluation of value and there's lots of both every year.

I started looking at 2020 - that was Ruggs and Chaisson at 12 and 20. Ruggs was a good pick in terms of talent, but circumstances made it a bad result. Chaisson was a bust as a draft pick, who later helped other teams.

The next season was Parsons and Kadarius Toney. A massive hit, and a miss. Then Jameson Williams and Kenny Pickett - for a team without a QB need, the more relevant pick would be McDuffie after Pickett. 2023 - Gibbs and Smith-Njigba. 2024 - Nix (Bowers after Nix) and Fautanu. 2025 - Booker and Barron.

It's not an "answer" for value, but IMO it gives a better representation of potential value in the picks than our assumptions about how future draft picks will perform. Results are obviously very mixed. Huge hits and huge misses along the way.
Figure for two quality picks, one will work out. Will the one that works outbe as good as Crosby? Probably not. Does the years make up for it? Maybe.

I see Carter isn't as interesting here because he's a known high quality like Maxx, those picks though might just be pure gold!
