Derek is not a winner. He's not a leader, he doesn't elevate any wrs, and we needed to move on before Gruden even took the job.
Hmm.
I chalked 2017 up to his injured back and some regression. But with an offseason to heal, work on his game, and mature, he'd be back.
2018: no better at the end of the year than the beginning. But his fans said that Gruden's playbook was complicated and it would take anyone at least a year to master it. By then it'd been two straight seasons of poor play.
2019: no better than 2018; arguably worse because the getting used to Gruden's system excuse was gone.
This^ was the point I wanted to use our draft picks to trade into the top 5 so we could get Herbert. I'll always harp on this because it's one of the few draft picks I've ever nailed. It was truly when we should've been done with the Carr project. He'd had six years and it was clear at the time he was destined for high quality backup status.
It was a terrible lost opportunity.
Now here we are without the draft capital and without the 2020 QB draft class. Ugh.

Ugh.
Now I will say 2020 he, Carr, looked good but Herbert was smashing rookie records and looking the part of a true franchise QB. Earlier this season the Carr fanatics tried to say it was a lucky fluke season and he was successful only because it was a COVID year and as a rookie he got the benefits of not facing hostile environments of opposing fans. Yeah, I know ridiculous. But maybe Carr benefitted from that? He got quiet staduims and didn't crumble due to hostile crowds booing him.
A year later, crowds are back and Herbert is continuing to improve and lead the Chargers to wins and maybe playoffs. Meanwhile, Carr is being Carr, taking Raiders to nowhere yet again and looking terrible in the November and December months as always.
He updated that stat it looks like...
https://twitter.com/JoshDubowAP/status/ ... 1619117057
22-15 since 2014.
7 years
37 examples
That's 5 times per year, out of 16 game seasons.
What a crappy defense!
37 x .8 = 29
therefore... 29-8 for the rest of the QBs, average. That's only 7 more wins in 7 years, a meager 1 more win per season.
What else you got? I call 'who cares! tell me something that mattered!'
Extrapolating 5 times out of 16 = an average record of 5-11, if every time over 20 points is a team loss. So... the Raiders team was a 5-11 average team during those 7 years, based upon this nonsense stat.
so to be clear, Carr's win percentage being the worst in the league in games where the defense does their job is a nonsense stat.

if the defense gave up 0 point and shutout
can carr put up 3 points?

now you know why receivers quit on carr
cooper
abrown
others, because carr isn't throwing them the ball
receptions
renfrow 73
waller 53
edwards 25
ruggs 24, 7 games
drake 30
jones 17
jacobs 39
moreau 13
carr reversed to checkdown charlie to runningbacks
and jackson only got 5 catches in 4 games
if i'm jackson, i'm demanding a release and find a quarterback who want to throw to receivers

Washington on a short week we get extra time, Washington cannot stop the pass, we are one of the top pass offenses in the league
so, yes, the defenses fault
