What a haunting song with great lyrics too. Hell, the whole "Pontiac" album is very good.

Fresh out of HS, this is the album and the song that made me a Jeff Beck fan for life...I'm sure that others may disagree but IMO, Jeff was the GOAT.

I always thought he was a great player (Wired and Blow By Blow were the records that hooked us), but never realized just how incredible he is.You can't understand it until you see him play live, and then you go "damn, how does he do that?" Just an amazing talent.raidersince63 wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 8:30 am Fresh out of HS, this is the album and the song that made me a Jeff Beck fan for life...I'm sure that others may disagree but IMO, Jeff was the GOAT.

Yeah, for me, both Beck and David Gilmore are favs of mine mostly because they can play with so many different textures. Jeff beck threw away the pick several years ago and became a finger picker like Mark Nopfler and Lindsey Buckingham...and NO ONE uses the whammy bar like Jeff Beck.raider_kin wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 12:15 pm I always thought he was a great player (Wired and Blow By Blow were the records that hooked us), but never realized just how incredible he is.You can't understand it until you see him play live, and then you go "damn, how does he do that?" And since you're a "Blow by Blow" fan...check this out. Very few guitar player are as good live as they are in the studio but here's Jeff live playing "Cause We've Ended as Lovers", with 2 of the very best at what they do, Vinnie Colaiuta on drums and Tal Wilkenfeld on bass...what a band.
One of the worst things about getting old is hearing about one of your heroes passing away.
...still can't believe he's gone.

He went on tour with them (Preston) as well, maybe the "It's Only Rock and Roll" tour.
PS I read once long ago (maybe in a Circus mag) that they needed a separate truck for his keyboards.
PSS and a separate truck for Mick's wardrobe.
