Yes. My comment was in regard to Kingsberry. I’m not a fan of his offense at the pro level. I like kubiak more.Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 1:13 pm He works primarily from the gun. A bit of RPO is dropped in for Indiana but he can work under center as well. But college programs like the gun offense in spread formations. I think it is just a matter of teaching him to work under center more.

The OC will bring their bit to the team, and hopefully it meshes with our offensive players and it really should. TE who is lights out and a RB with all the potential in the world.Raidernation1979 wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 1:19 pm Yes. My comment was in regard to Kingsberry. Let's just hope the Seahawks lose in a shootout this weekend so we can hire Kubiak already. Webb is intriguing but he's a complete unknown and add in the fact we would need a super strong OC and DC.

I got the Seahawks going the distance. After his weekend we can finish the interviews and they can “know” what’s going to happen. A Super Bowl champion head coach with his national champion rookie qb. Sounds like good vibes to meBoKnows81 wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 1:30 pm Let's just hope the Seahawks lose in a shootout this weekend so we can hire Kubiak already. It’s a short list. Guys who made the jump to Head Coach without previously being an NFL Offensive or Defensive Coordinator.
Updated
John Madden. Raiders, 1969. LB coach. Legend.
Al Saunders. Chargers (interim), 1986. WR coach.
Art Shell. Raiders, 1989. OLine coach.
Mike Tice. Vikings, 2002. OLine coach.
John Harbaugh. Ravens, 2008. ST Coord./DBs coach.
Mike Munchak. Titans, 2011. OLine coach.
Jim Tomsula. 49ers, 2015. DLine coach.
Joe Judge. Giants, 2020. ST coordinator/WR coach.
Dan Campbell. Lions, 2021. TEs coach/Asst. HC.
Rich Bisaccia. Raiders (interim), 2021. ST Coord.
Antonio Pierce. Raiders, 2024. LB coach / Asst. HC.
Edited to add the Legend and others by allowing previous coordinator positions in college. Also cleaned it up a bit by making it chronological.

You can call two of them truly successful. One of them if you’re only counting Super Bowls.

Madden being a DC in college does not count. That is like being a position coach in the pros. He counts on the list

I dont know if it counts or not, but im assuming thats why he was left off. Obviously the better statistic would be percentage of coaches never having been oc or dc to be successful head coaches compared to those who have.Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 3:34 pm Madden being a DC in college does not count. Fixed. It’s an exhaustive project.
Interesting to see how often the Raiders were willing to roll the dice on it.
