Raiders-Dolphins post game thread
Offense looked good. Defense could use some work. Always good to get a win. Thoughts?

I mean jeanty may have been a little tired, but it was mainly because they knew we were running out the clock and they sold out

Heres to a speedy recovery doctor!DrDUne wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2026 3:16 pm He had the soft cast on until we could get to the orthopedic surgeon (today). Thankfully, no surgery needed and we dodge a bullet. Didn't need him falling at Allegiant with a soft cast/sling and turning no-surgery into something worse. He got a black cast in support of the team. And to reiterate, had I gone on Sunday, the score would have been 27-13 in the other direction. You're welcome!

Yep. Both the stats you posted and the eye test are consistent with each other.Rabidraider wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2026 1:43 pm So they waited till after he wrecked the game to key on him? The then tired defense?
He looked gassed to me. Protect an en ineffective player and bring in fresh legs with a two TD lead seems prudent.
I don't think anyone expects to have Jeanty put in bubblewrap, but there was no good reason to have him out there at that point.

other than the fact that the game was still in question and Washington did not even contribute in the 4th.Opoponax50 wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2026 4:08 pm Yep. Both the stats you posted and the eye test are consistent with each other.

The goal is to win the game. They kept the guy out there that had gotten them to the finish line. The results speak for themselves

On the bright side, those particular folk who only come to the forum to piss’n’moan had to keep their useless whining mouths shut.raidersince63 wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2026 3:55 am While reading through the game thread, I was reminded as to why I very seldom post during a game.
But overall, yesterday's game did show a lot of promise when compared to how bad we were from top to bottom last year. For the most part, I thought our players performed with a sense of urgency on both sides of the ball and they should only get better as the season goes on.
My only beef is that hopefully, we'll take more deep shots in the passing game and stretch the field a bit more.
My main question though, is overall, have we truly improved as much as we hoped we would, OR instead, are the Dolphins really that bad?
Guess we'll find out when we next play a pissed off Chargers team trying to atone for yesterday's game.
When this team is truly good again, I have no idea what a few are going to do with themselves.
As Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt once said, “Winning is the salve that silences doubt…and douchebags”.

It's also worth noting that Glaze looked great on every one of those clips.

It wasn't a safety. The ball or your hand touching the turf does not constitute down by contact.

I get the rule, why I put “not”, but eye test… Rules committee could stand to revisit.chucker wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2026 5:02 pm It wasn't a safety. The ball or your hand touching the turf does not constitute down by contact.
Just a guess on my part, but I wonder if Washington isn’t quite ready to pass block consistently.

There are definitely some rules I'd like to see revisited..... lots of issues with various penalty rules IMO. But there's nothing about the safety rule I'd want to see change. It's not about it being a rule relating to a safety, it's really about where the ball is "spotted" when a player is down by contact. Similar to how it's spotted anywhere else on the field.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2026 5:12 pm I get the rule, why I put “not”, but eye test… Rules committee could stand to revisit.

Good point on pass blocking - most rookie RBs struggle with that, although I didn't see Washington have issues. It could also be that Jeanty is a better receiver and gives the offense more options when he's on the field and keeps the defense more off balance as a result. With Bowers out and a weak WR group, it's nice to have a good receiving threat at RB.
