So people are up in arms, so what? Carr is not playing for the Raiders again. If you want to refuse to see that reality in order to hold onto an opportunity to have pointless, repetitive arguments you should pm the Carr fans and bash each other in private. I am glad the Raiders decided to move on, I will be more glad when the endless bashing and inane arguments move to a fresh topic.
you think this ends with Carr? This will forever be the argument with every QB we have until we win. As long as we have a D that gets carved up by journeyman we will be losing. I’m still relieved, at least we’ll have a new QB to blame for this dumpster fire of an organization.

The big question now: what’s next?
I don’t think you show your hand like this with carr to go after retreads and become Washington or the colts. Maybe the plan is Brady or Rodgers but there’s still a lot of uncertainty as to their availability.
My gut feeling is we’re moving up - Chicago being the obvious target.
https://twitter.com/81timbrown/status/1 ... 3QYYEpHakA
Ok let's entertain this thought. Carr deserves better?
Why?
Because of his 0-1 all time playoff record after 9 years?
IMO he is a coach killer, which to me means you are very talented to the point ownership cans the coach over you over and over because of your potential. He really imo fit that mold, just a notch away from being super legit.
The contract as-is makes this a shrewd and correct move. The contracts makes this happen this way. If there wasn't this risk, he just plays it out and gets released/traded in the offseason, sure still a big headline, but it goes through the typical process.
He isn't a legend, however he will be long remembered and hold Raider records for years to come. He's a top-5 Raider QB, I for one won't hate him.
The high water mark for Carr is how he handled the fatal car crash and Gruden being run out of the league, but in the end that is outside the lines. It was great, showed great character, but no matter what you do outside, you are really judged inside the lines. He was clueless in the pocket pretty much and he was inaccurate/floaty downfield way too much, like a huge lack of confidence. Those are the two things on the field I'll probably remember the most.

That’s the kind of statement that triggers petulant arguments. It’s Ok to point out the QBs horrid play and recognize the defense as a whole needs improving as well.
https://twitter.com/81timbrown/status/1 ... 3QYYEpHakA
I think Tim Brown will always be a little salty for having to finish up his career in Tampa.
Obviously, they aren't going to play Carr these last 2 meaningless games and risk him getting injured and owed 40 Mil plus tanking his trade value.
If Carr wants to continue his career elsewhere, then why would he want to play for a team that doesn't want him anymore. Seems to me that it makes sense for both sides.
Its just a stat I would like to know.
Someone looked it up on NFL ref with filters of down by 11 or more in the 4th Quarter and honestly it was fairly consistent production wise with his other gametime.
I definitely argued that a ton of his production was found in prevent but it was like 15% and we were down that much near enough to15% of the time, so I had to walk it back..
That was 2 years ago last I saw it broken out though but I don't believe that has changed much.

But it wasn’t because he didn’t work hard enough or because he was a bad person, he just didn’t have the football instincts and IQ of the elite QBs. He still put butts in the stands and sold jerseys for almost 10 years. He was a good employee. He was here long enough to deserve some respect. A proper send off. not cloak and dagger shadiness and that’s how this feels.
It feels like they screwed him and his best bud Adams and the rest of the locker room might not like that and it might make free agents hesitant. I’m not saying it’s actually that way or for sure, I just totally get where TB is coming from. I’m not expecting a parade or a gold watch, but damn dude at least don’t throw the dude under the bus then bench him when the season is already lost. The optics are awful.

Remember those post game pressers with Derek when he was asked about bad ref calls on the field and he wouldn’t answer??… but instead tapped his chest pocket and said,”I like to keep my money in my own pocket”. That’s a business decision to save money.

Maxx just bought Derek and DA some serious gifts so I’d assume he cares a lot about them. I hope we didn’t just throw the baby out with the bath water.

He would get 33 next year and an additional 7 million in '24 guarantees (iirc) If he cannot pass the May physical from what I read.
It also has solid optics, it won't make a difference to any NFL team who can clearly see that reality as well and wants him in a trade or as a free agent.
