Yes.

Remember how Mayock was considered a draft guru in media circles? Then well, you saw the drafts.

Talking heads throw a lot of shit at the wall hoping some of it will stick. And some does, but a lot of it does not.

And them stating that there are 10 teams that would trade for Carr ... well, that is about as rubbery as shit gets.
I kind of feel sorry for Maylock, he won't be able to get a job doing what he used to do as a draft analyst, but Gruden got $100M. Maylock should have thought the taking the GM job over a little bit more than he did.

I don’t know why it’s such a mystery who was making those picks.I wish someone would just say.

As bad as they were I’d have to lean Gruden mostly.

Then when he didn’t know any of the remaining players,Mayock Would take over.

At least 6 of them
JJ, Max, Hobbs, Leatherwood, Renfrow, Waller
I told you guys about it. Probably more if I think about it.
I believe he'd waive his no trade clause. If he didn't and then retires then we'd owe him no money, and would even have the right to demand back over $5 million from his signing bonus (we probably wouldn't do that). My preference would be to not cut him, but trade him. Any trade would likely be worked out prior to his guarantee vesting date, even though it wouldn't be official until the new league year starts in March.
Wouldn't he get paid if he gets released? He's not obligated to sign with another team is he? I'd rather he was traded as well.
Wouldn't he get paid if he gets released? He's not obligated to sign with another team is he? I'd rather he was traded as well.
If we released him after the vesting date then we'd have to pay him a pile of cash.

Assuming we don't want Carr as our starter in 2023:

1. Outright release him prior to the vesting date for future guarantees, which I think is 3 days after the Super Bowl. We would have around $5 million in dead money in 2023 related to signing bonus we'd already paid him. He could sign with another team. He would not qualify for a comp pick so we'd get no compensation, but we'd save cap and would be free to do whatever we choose at QB.

2. Work out a trade prior to the vesting date with another team. You'd probably first talk to Carr about teams he'd be happy to waive his no trade clause for - I think there'd be a handful of teams interested and I think he'd be willing to move, knowing that we don't want him. I think he's too insecure to dig his heels in and say he won't play for anyone else.

3. If you tell him you want to trade him and Carr says he'd rather retire than play for another team, then you can call his bluff and not release him - his guarantees still vest but if he retires then we don't owe him any of that money - in fact he'd technically owe us money. If he doesn't actually retire, then you still draft a QB and tell Carr he's a backup - I think he'd then retire. If not, then he could still be a trade chip closer to the season if someone loses a QB.

I don't care if he decides to retire instead of getting traded - that's fine. I don't want him as Raider QB, but I would like to get compensation if it's at all possible. After watching him play for 9 years, we deserve something in return. Basically it's 4th and game and I don't want us to just chuck the ball out of bounds.
Doesn't cost 35 M this season.
He will next which is the point, that is the salary a potential trade partner has to swallow.
Even in the James Jones/cowherd convo. They claimed Carr is good. They claimed 10 teams would trade for him right now. 10. Not 20-25. 10. So that means I’m their heads roughly 22 teams believe they are in a better position to either get one or have one than Carr. This doesn’t mean they think they’re guy is necessarily better but money/production is
Firmly a bottom 3rd QB
Interesting.you have a link or anything? I’d like to see.thanks.
It was in the press conferences.
What I say doesn't matter mostly because its not written on a website you can click on. Somehow thats makes it official.
This is not set in stone because well never really know but here's some.

Gruden said Cable was pounding the table for Leatherwood. This was in the presser after r1.
So I'd say he was a Cable pick.
Again, its JG who makes the pick so all of the picks in the end are his but..

On Hobbs
Mayock said, his friend called him and told him to check out this guy Hobbs. Mayock said he took the tape directly to the DB coach and then the Gruden. So this is a Mayock find.

On Waller
Gruden said after a pre-season game or scrimmage he never saw a player that looked like him and shortly after he was poached of Baltimore's ps. So a Gruden find.

Josh Jacobs
Mayock said he took the tape to Gruden and told him the kid can do everything.
So a Mayock find

Its all between the lines but take it for what its worth, not officially official by any means

I remember some others
Hell, I can’t imagine how Mark Davis does. Or the Carrstans. I can’t imagine how anyone watches him play and doesn’t easily see a 3 to 6 million dollar backup.
Hey! Hey!!!
He would be a high end back up and could be up to maybe 8.5 for a contender that wants an insurance policy and somehow has cap space for such a luxury.

You are probably right though.

Jacobs wasn’t necessarily a find...many had him projected to us there.

I remember the Waller and Hobbs story.

I want to know who found Maxx.It had to be Mayock I would think

I remember hearing Greg Olson spotted Waller at some point and alerted Gruden to snatch him up off the Ravens PS
