Yeah, gotta love’m. He shepherded the organization from the “Senors” to the Silver & Black Raiders and NFL dominance.

He also led us to the bottom then handed the reigns to his simpleton son.

God bless ya Big Al. The Davis era can’t end soon enough.

The last genuine leader we had on defense was Robert Spillane, everyone else was either anointed by the management or self anointed. Maxx isnt a leader of men.
Maxx leads by example and how he’s been reported to be the first one in the building every day. In my profession I admired hard work and dedication, never taking days off and generally trying to emulate some of what they did to make myself better. Have you never had someone in your life that was good at your profession and tried to at minimum take something from them to encapsulate into your own? It doesn’t always have to be on the field, either. Helping change the culture in a locker room is valid, although I’m not privy to any of that. Your dislike for him doesn’t change the fact that I’m almost certain he’s made someone better. Shenanigans off the field in one’s own life, while I may not agree with, has nothing to do with the player on it.
To be clear, I wish the trade had gone through, but to make a statement like yours I find hard to validate.

We also fired Snowden for him.

No, we did not. We released him because he is not a good player.

I will give Crawford the benefit of the doubt. Can he be that stupid or lazy? Before you answer yes, lets no submarine this kid because of previous shit bums we have had. None of us know exactly what happened. Let the staff deal with it. I am sure they like this kid a lot considering other quality players who were on the board when they called his name. I was shocked they picked him especially since we signed Payne (thinking Maxx was gone).

I was surprised by the pick only because I knew other names a lot better than Crawford's - you can never have too many edge rushers. There are some pretty good draft analysts who think it was a great pick by the Raiders. And as for the day off, well I'm not going to pretend that it's a good thing for a guy to miss a day, but it's nothing to freak out about if it doesn't become a habit.

And that is the driving force of much of the discussion. But the roster will still undergo many more "adjustments" before opening day.

I hear what you saying about having enough edge rushers. However, I thought we should have picked up more OL help. I hope I am dead ass wrong about our OL (and WR's for that matter). Do you think we make a move to pick up some vets after June 1st (since you are the boards cap guru)?

GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Mon May 04, 2026 1:55 pm This was my thought when seeing posts arguing over Maxx mentoring/leading Mendoza.

Maxx leads by example, and when or if there is a deeper or more “hands-on” level of mentorship, for Maxx it should be for the D. Especially for a young’n like Crawford.

Maxx is a great self-motivator, not a trait Mendoza lacks. If we are to hope for who’s voice is in who’s ear, better that in Mendoza’s ear is a vet QB or O-Coach.

And to be honest, it seems silly to even write this, but we get weird “stan” behaviors occasionally.
this is exactly why we should just let maxx go raider for life and redo his deal with more guaranteed money and free up a bunch of more cap space ...we have a very young team full of talent now and max will be a great example of a vet that is still playing at the top of his game to teach others how to be great

Heard an Auburn joke a while back but I suppose you could substitute any team somebody might wanna flame.

Anyway, this Auburn lineman was up for his physical and the Doctor said, "Son. I'm gonna need a blood sample, a urine sample, a stool sample, and a semen sample."

The lineman looked puzzled for a couple seconds, and then said,...
.
.
.
"I understand Doc, but gee, can't I just give you my underwear"?

...Ba dum dum tshh

In college Crawford was know for being relentless and always having a high motor during games. In practice he was said to never take a rep off. Yeah, lazy bum.
