Yes, and Gruden had visions of Brett Favre when he took the over as OC as well. The problem was that Gruden aint Mike Holmgren.Hellbound wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 5:35 pm I do remember at some point in time during his Philly tenure, they were not forcing, but trying to get him to be more of a pocket passer & do alot less running around. That was a big story line during that time

In my head, when I hear Randall’s name, I can always remember his throw. Windup was a little long, but always such a beautiful arching pass.Toast wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 4:29 pm It was always a head scratcher to me why Randall Cunningham didn't work out in Philly under Ray Rhodes. I always felt it should have been more of an indictment towards Gruden's reputation as a QB guru. I am not sure I have ever seen a more physically gifted QB from A to Z.

Yes, long, lanky almost effortless wind up but the guy could throw bombs. James Lofton always called those passes "butter balls."GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 7:40 pm In my head, when I hear Randall’s name, I can always remember his throw. I never met him in person. But while in AIT in the army one of the guys i got close to had come from being third string offensive line for the eagles. He was on the phone once and i could hear he was talking football. We had those conversations many times and he called me over. Put me on the phone and i had no idea that it was Randall on the other end.

I like it that when fans are just being truthful and say a player is shit, we hate them. What is this, grade school? I don't hate the dude, just think he is a very subpar QB and that will always be the case. Regardless, if Cousins is ready to go and Mendoza progresses the way we want him too, dude will never see the field anyway.

It's like some sort of insecurity for some to feel the need to defend old, washed up, terrible players once they put on the silver n black. That and I blame some of it on them not watching much football outside of the Raiders.Tusken wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 5:17 pm I like it that when fans are just being truthful and say a player is shit, we hate them. And to add to it, the benefit of the doubt that is given to this team is f[raiders_icon]cking ludicrous. Don't get me wrong, I'm optimistic with this staff, but don't think for one second that they don't need to prove competence to me first.

And add that he is a really expensive 3rd string QB. I read guys saying they can just renegotiate his contract down. Why would he do that? Yessir, I will redo my deal to make less money. Plausible.Tusken wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 5:17 pm I like it that when fans are just being truthful and say a player is shit, we hate them. What is this, grade school? QB1 has been called the most important position in sports,, but suddenly QB3 has become even more important?
AOC would agree to redo his contract...because, well, he would have no choice if he wants to remain in Vegas. Yessir, I will take less money wherever I end up if I want to draw a paycheck at all.

At this stage you have to wonder if the writers are simply just reading our threads:

Wasn’t it confirmed we caught one or two writers that lurked in here before? Literally quoting posters word for word at times. Someone will remember who I’m talking aboutWillmark wrote: Tue Apr 14, 2026 12:55 pm At this stage you have to wonder if the writers are simply just reading our threads:

This place has an interesting history. The "lore" goes back to the old site where some of us were arguing (roughly) the same things 20 years ago.Toast wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2026 8:12 pm This place has an interesting history. I kinda wish I would have stumbled upon this forum sooner.

Hit the nail on the head. A guy can outwork anyone in the league, but if he doesn't have that inborn It, then no amount of work is going to instill it.Toast wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 4:04 pm Unfortunately that isn't something that can be coached up. A QB either has it or he doesn't. Sometimes the game slows down faster for some than others but it is an innate quality and I would argue the most important one.
As far as O'Connell goes, I'd be fine with him being our PS guy. It'd give him time in the system and he'd be ready for the backup position when Cousins leaves. OTOH, what team is going to pay $4 million to any PS player?
