RIP to the Derek Carr thread
Dream with me for a moment ....
Picture DC having an MVP season.
Wanting to Build in that for seasons to come with the Raiders. Takes a cue from TB ...
And Offers to take an extension at $25 million a year.
Pipedream? .... Or seeds in the Ethernet to be planted in DCs psyche?

Just because the last guy got 40 mil does not mean you get it that is elite contender money, we don't even have to worry about losing him in free agency he has already said he wont play anywhere else so we can play around that
His comments about not playing anywhere else whilst being little disrespectful to the organisation also could cost him in negotiations going forward, Derek prides himself on being a good honest Christian so let’s use it against him
I think the best way forward in all this is :-
Draft a QB next year to develop & be on the safe side
Let Carr’s contract run down, franchise if need be
Start negotiations
If Carr doesn't play ball & want stupid money then we move on with young QB
Forces him to retire if he is a man of his word
What's he going to do if we don't? Pout like Rodgers then go out and play like him? Whatever to the first part and yes to the second part, sir!
Exactly correct. Keeping Carr hungry is a good sense plan.

For me the discussion is largely pointless (At this juncture). The numbers being referenced are very rough approximations, who knows what exactly the market will be when the time comes for an extension. In addition, we have little to no cap liabilities for 2023 at the moment, with nearly half of the projected cap in available space, and 9 of our 22 starters on the books still. There's so much that can happen between now and January, let alone 2023 that could effect how one would view a Derek Carr extension. Personally I'm focused on Philly.

Icon's make the HOF....
Don't agree with that. You can be an icon to a team without being a hall of famer. Plenty of players like that in all sports.

But you do not pay guys just for being icons, that is just silly
Carr's record against the Broncos is 8 wins, 7 losses.
You mean the TEAM has an 8-7 record vs. the Broncos????
Carr actually has a 94 QBR vs. the Broncos: https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/derek- ... vs-broncos
"Derek Carr has a passer rating of 93.9 with 3,285 yards, 16 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in 14 games versus the Broncos in his career."

But Carr has more than done his job as shown by these stats.
Let's see how many yards & points the defense gave up in those losses?

We haven't won so no one was doing there job,
I will say things maybe changing slowly but surely although until they do every player should be criticise including Carr because he has a faults of his own that cost us just like the D

The W/L argument is kind of a gross oversimplification. If you're running a company everyone's job is to make money. But specific job titles and their own individual performances can and are judged despite the bottom line. You try to analyze where and how the company is losing money, and address that. You don't go to the one guy who is doing his job correctly and fire him before you cut the bums that are hemorrhaging funds on the daily.
Carr has not done a poor job. His resume is not without me it's warts either. But there have been severe issues company wide for some time and now that some are being fixed you can see the fruits of his labor.
That is the argument behind the philosophy that wins and losses aren't a QB stat. It's a team stat. It's also a QB stat. Every player regardless of position will be remembered within the context of team success. But many are recognized for their performances despite that too.
It's just one in a few things to consider. Anyone trying to boil it down to a single statistic is grasping for something to prove their point.
