Just looking at run-pass percentage leaves out how we actually attacked in the 1st half. A lot of it was jetsweeps, misdirection and actually being willing to pass the ball once we had them on their heels. Teams make adjustments so it’s hardly a given that what worked in half 1 will work in half 2 but we generally abandoned the creativity in the 2nd half.
Im not saying Carr played well by any stretch either. But this is the 3rd or 4th time we’ve seen this happen this year where the offence falls off a cliff in the 2nd half. Either McDaniels is going hyper conservative or has no ability to counterpunch when teams adjust.
Fwiw I’d like to see a new QB too as Im just generally tired of the rollercoaster of inconsistency that is Carr. some pocket awareness and mobility would be also be a nice change.
Yeah, the "offense" falling off of a cliff in those games is well documented....
Just like the redzone issues, it should be ridiculously clear the issue is execution. These are Nathan Peterman numbers man, garbage, and it tired out the defense in each and every game.
There is no excuse for a QB playing like this at all. We would be the Texans this year if it was not for Josh Jacobs and 50/50 balls to Adams, and guess what, any QB can heave 50/50 balls and handoff to Jacobs.
Mac Redzone 2021:
43-72 (59.7%) 17 TD & 1 INT.
Patriots as a team were the 7th best in redzone scoring efficiency in 2021.
Raiders were 29th.
So far this year 2022. Patriots are tied for 31st in redzone efficiency.
Pick was bad though it looked like he got hit as the ball was coming out. Also… we attempted 7 passes in the 2nd half… come on now. Maybe McDaniels really doesn’t trust Carr at all but the decision to almost entirely take the ball out of carrs hands was not carrs decision. Also by process of taking the ball out of carrs hands you’re also taking the ball out of Adams’ hands.
Don’t get me wrong carr didn’t play all that great either. But in most of these blown leads the above has kind of been the theme - we just stop throwing the ball.
Arm was already on the way forward and he was bumped from his left as he throws:
https://youtu.be/k5jBike-W4E
It does shift him a bit, but it looks like from the beginning there wasn’t going to be much on the pass; getting hit exacerbated an already bad/poor throw.
Arm was already on the way out and he was bumped from his left said as he throws:
https://youtu.be/k5jBike-W4E
yea, other than his footwork, the guys around him really did not disrupt the throw. He never looked anywhere else though. Three defenders and a fourth spying him. He locked on for 2.5 seconds on one player. He also had the option to slide to his right. He just kept his eyes locked and his feet were together when he more or less pushed the ball. I am curious what other angles show.

A couple pages old but Baker doesn’t seem like a bad idea. Former first overall pick. Took the browns to the playoffs. Hopefully being tossed around the league has humbled him some. He’s a gamer. He’s still very young with a live arm and seems to constantly fight.

Pm me if you want
There's a little up arrow at the bottom of the tweet, click on that and it gives you the option to share it various ways..... select copy, and then go to your post entry box and just click in it and paste. It will paste the hyperlink and should show up as the full tweet in your post.
Pic is crappy due to resizing but it’s readable
This doesn’t even consider how often Carr put the defense in a bad position. Against the Seahawks, the defense started in the RZ twice because of Carr and scored on both instances. That’s 14 points that the defense suffered because Carr is cheeks
I would guess with Tom and Gronk they were pretty stupid.
Last year with Mac Jones would be interesting though.
Yes comparing 8 year veteran Carr to rookie Mac Jones is exactly the kind of handicap Carr needs to look good.
Oh wait, the Pats offense was way more efficient in the redzone with McD/Jones than the Raiders have been this year.
