Ride Herbert like Seabiscuit. Predict he will do great things.
If he performs? See, I told you so.
If he doesn’t perform? Deflect by making it about Carr or Carr fans (I am neither one of these things).
Classic Heads I win, Tails you lose narcissism.
and yet my statement is factually correct. When Carr is struggling, his oline gets blamed all the time. Herbert struggles...he sucks. Anyone watching the game saw how our much maligned pass rush was getting to him far quicker than we have all season and it was not even close. When both those guys have time, they perform vastly better, it is just the way it is in football. But the narrative that Herbert sucked yesterday is fraught with a complete lack of context.
f[raiders_icon]ck Carr I ain’t giving him shit. 49ers had an UDFA rookie destroy the Dolphins with the same numbers as Carr. Is he good too? Let’s send him to Canton because according to some here he made the throws and won the game. No he got f[raiders_icon]cking carried by his defense, running game, and HC calling the plays. Carr is doing his same shit as every year. Only playing well enough to leave us stuck in mediocrity and giving his fan boys just enough hope to think next year will be the year. You know the magical year 10.
Did you watch the game?
That kid destroyed nothing. He handed the ball off to mccaffrey. That’s what he did.
That pick 6 Carr threw was pass interference on the defense but the refs didn't want to call it for whatever reason.
Carr was 16 for 30 on his passes and I think that's the winning formula, rely in the run and don't put it all in Carr's hands.
I'm not giving Carr that much credit really, but he did make some plays.

5 games left and the key three things I’m watching are INTSs, TDs and fumbles relative to previous years.
So far this fumbles are way down which is a good thing, last year was his highest ever so good for ball security on his part. In fact this is on pace to be one of his lower years. Perhaps playing in the same style of offense as in 2016 when he only had 5. Maybe because he’s under center more.?
INTs- traditionally INTs haven’t been too bad, again last year they were up which coupled with fumbles was really bad. He’s career is about .66 INTs per game , that’s not too bad at all. The problem is high INTs “bounce” a lot and some years higher. Again INTs typically aren’t the issue.
TDs- generally speaking he averages 23-24 TDs per season or about 1.5 per game over 139 games played. If he continues with 2 per game he’ll finish with 30 and his best output since 2015 when he had 32.
The question is that his ceiling? Around. 30-32? Now of course there are other factors like Jacobs rushing for 10 TDs as of now.
The real questions will be does he improve the rest of the way out or even surpass 32 and is the output of $ into Carr and Adams contract worth the increase in production? At what level are we “happy” with what we’re getting.
Of course if it translates to wins it gets clouded but I think TDs relative to previous years will be an
Important factor going forward.
To summarize: from the raw numbers standpoint this is likely to be one of his better years for ball security. The big question will be total TDs passing.

The lack of fumbles is a really big deal - with all our wins being really close it's been an important factor for the team. Good for Carr.

Still not good in the red zone yet. Jacobs has helped but even again yesterday he completely missed a wide-open Hollins being locked in on Adams

Everyone keeps saying look at the market for QB.
I understand that...but that means we should just settle?
Alex smith was solid and won a lot of games, but Reid knew to get to the next level he needed to upgrade. He traded up and hot Mahomes. Mahomes wasn’t a consensus one like Burrow by any means, but Reid and the GM studied him and liked him. They made the move.
That’s what I want.Ok,keep Carr next year but be aggressive and if McD and Z like a guy go get him.
It’s not complicated.

That’s one of things I’ve be wondering all year: did getting Adams mean we just shifted who gets the TDs or would it translate in an increase in TDS. So far it’s looking like an increase in TDs. Question is how much?
Say if we do get a 6 TD increase from average is that enough?
For the regular season the answer is maybe, consider
24 TDs over 16 games is 1.5 per game.
24 TDs over 17 games is 1.41 per game.
32 TDs over 16 games (his total in 2015) is 2 per game.
30 TDs over 17 games is 1.76 per game.
It could be looked at that is enough given our games have been close in 2022 with wins or loses going either way when looked as whole. The problem is there is still TD output higher than Carr and in one individual game he doesn’t typically jump to say 4 TDs. Other QBs can and do. Hell, Carr just had 3 TDs in a game for the first time in 2 years.
So again and increase of 6 TDs per year is an increase of .35 TDs per game. Is that worth the cost? If we win? People will of course say yes but that misses the point IMO.
ETA: I think it was you who originally noted that this year is as good as it gets cap wise; that the offense is basically discounted this year. Add to this the increasing calls to “pay the man” for Jacobs? Ok where is that coming from and who are we cutting because I don’t think they can simply restructure it all.
Also I looked: if I’m. Not mistaken we still have some dead cap of no small amount in Littleton and Nassib next year.

I’m all for that with a guy like Levis.
Looks like the anti-Carr Brigade want:
1) Carr out; and
2) A new QB.
As in, if we sit Levis for a year, they want a year of Jacoby Brissett before Levis.

It was a while ago and numbers have changed obviously, but was Smith making back then? I have no idea

Jones didn’t set the world on fire last year, but he wasn’t awful either. We have an excellent ground game so that could help a rook
