Vrabel is who many hoped AP was. He is the comp for Dan Campbell imo
I would be OK with that group. Our team just needs to play up to its potential. Dan Campbell is special, the Lions made a great choice hiring him.
In AP's press conference after the game today he said "no comment" a couple of times when asked about his role next year. Even more telling was when he was asked about what the Raiders need to do to compete next year he stated "everyone knows what our most glaring need is". A coach who is staying with the team doesn't throw his QB under the bus. My hunch is he is gone by tomorrow evening.
Yea, a new head coach

Unless the HC is also the going to be the OC as well?

The OC and the QB running it will matter more than the HC we might hire.
It feels to me this was a way to soften the blow for AP and the fans instead of outright firing him as fast as the Patriots did. "We are thinking about it, taking everything into consideration" blah, blah, blah...
Its worse when they wait, just nip it in the bud and move on. We all know AP is not going to be the HC next season so lets get the ball rolling early.
QB is obviously super important but good head coaches continue to have success as coordinators come and go.
Different thread last week I said something along these lines, "four things to be a successful franchise (in no particular order):

1. HC, right now we have AP, that's 0-1
2. A competent GM, so far so good 1-2
3. A QB, we have AOC12 as of right now, that's 1-3
4. A competent owner 1-4

1 through 3 we can change as need be. #4? We're saddled with him until...yeah...

I’ve been saying this for weeks……

O’Connell has been in the league for two years and has had 2 head coaches and FOUR offensive coordinators……

We need coaching stability. AP starting the new league year on the hot seat perpetuates the current problem and doesn’t even begin to address his coaching deficiencies

He will be going into year 3 and doesnt look any better than year 1.

This isn't like the CarrSuckers who complained about changing coaching because 7 of his long-ass 9 years were under two different staffs.

That said, O'Connell isn't It. He's a worthy backup and possible bridge if we somehow land a good QB.
